This isn’t a new thing, we’ve seen how the rest of the galaxy treats Force-sensitive children that aren’t protected by the Jedi–along with the Trandoshans kidnapping and hunting Padawans for sport, along with a Padawan literally being auctioned off to probably torture or horrible experiment to death, along with bounty hunters stealing lists of Force-sensitive children for nefarious purposes, along with how Drooz impersonates the Jedi to steal from people–but it’s fascinating to see it here again.
The pirates are specifically here because of the rumor of Jedi stuff. The Togruta archeologist says that the pirates didn’t care about their findings until the holocron made them take a second look, then the pirates show up and they’re even more interested in getting their hands on a Jedi lightsaber, beyond anything else that’s there.
Star Wars has been really clear about showing that the Jedi face a lot of this kind of shit, that their connection to the Force makes them not only dangerous if they don’t control themselves, but because people are going to be coming after them solely because of who they are. Not because of what they’ve done, but because of their connection to the Force, literally because they were born who they are.
It doesn’t matter if they’re trained or not (only in that training and the shelter of the Jedi protects them), they’re in danger just by being born the way they were. Baby Ahsoka had never even met a Jedi when a Zygerrian wanted to steal her. Cad Bane stole a list of Force-sensitives that many had probably never even met a Jedi, to be kidnapped to be put into a torturous machine. An actual Jedi Padawan was being auctioned off as an incredibly valuable prize.
The Jedi are in danger every time they step away from their Temple because people will attack them to take their stuff, to take their very bodies if they can. No shit they have to be trained to deal with a galaxy that hates and fears them and wants to violate and abuse them just because they were born with an ability to connect to the Force.
HAPPYBIRTHDAYBLAKE!@gay-cheerios Thank you for being lovely and for being an incredible friend.
“This, then, is Obi-Wan and Anakin.
They are closer than friends. Closer than brothers. Though Obi-Wan is sixteen standard years Anakin’s elder, they have become men together. Neither can imagine life without the other. The war has forged their two lives into one.”
