Palpatine’s force lightning is nothing compared to the sheer might that is Luke’s puppy dog eyes.
This is actually how Obi-Wan is finally able to trail Luke and Vader. It’s hard to hide rumors of a tall, dark cloaked, man with a bubbly little boy doing amazing good deeds on various planets.
What the gang looks like when they join the Rebellion. Anakin/Vader wears the mask to help him breath better in combat, but feels exposed if he removes it in front of people he doesn’t know, so he only takes it off in private.
((He doesn’t want people to recognize him as Anakin, as he feels deeply ashamed of what he has become. The only reason that he doesn’t wear as mask is because he was forced to wear one for 7-8 years constantly and he’ll be dammed if he has to go through that hell again.))
((He eyes remain mostly blue, but due to the stress of being in the Rebellion, worrying about Luke, and the constant fighting, his eyes do turn back to Sith yellow once in awhile.))

Being a hybrid of an eldritch being and a normal human woman causes Anakin a lot of physical problems. When he shifts from one form to the next, it’s not uncommon for some body parts to reshape incorrectly. It’s usually his teeth, arms, or tentacles that cause the most problems.
Since Obi-Wan is the only one in the beginning to see Anakin’s true form, he takes it upon himself to help Anakin deal with these issue, such as removing extra teeth the grow into his gums or jaw.
The worst is when Obi-Wan has to ‘remove’ an extra arm or tentacle with his lightsaber. He hates doing this, but the extra arms or tentacles are so misshaped and painful that if Anakin shifts again with them attached they could kill him.
Luke’s pure force energy slowly heals Anakin/Vader during the AU. Unfortunately Anakin’s lungs will never be fully healed. He will get winded and have trouble breathing if he pushes himself too hard.
You would never know this though if he fought him. He pushes pass his disability with sheer bullheaded stubbornness. Oh, he can’t breath? Well he’s going to still do a triple backflip, kick your ass, and then promptly pass out after in style~.
Honestly, the breathing problem doesn’t even compare to the absolute unbearable pain he lived through every day when he was in the suit. So Anakin isn’t bothered whatsoever by this development.
Luke however constantly worries and carries a small rebreather/inhaler for his father.
Near the end of the Clone Wars, Anakin’s life is thrown into turmoil. Ashoka is gone and Padma has ended their marriage/relationship, and the war seems to be getting worse.
Feeling like he is losing everything, Anakin starts to spiral into a deep depression and his anxiety peeks. He feels trapped, alone, helpless, and angry and after one particular terrible day he reaches his breaking point when he gets into a fight with Obi-Wan.
Unknowing Anakin channels the force into himself and changes his body, instinctually trying to escape everything by becoming something else, in this case a tiger.
Anakin is still coherent but can only communicate through his force bond with Obi-Wan, which has been significantly strengthened by the event, allowing both men to feel the other’s emotions more easily.
Nothing like this has ever happened before, so no one knows how to fix it. The council declares that Anakin will stay at the temple while Obi-Wan continues to fight in the war, but Obi-Wan camly refuses. He will take Anakin with him, and if the council refuses he will leave the order.
Obi-Wan feels horrible that Anakin felt like this was his only choice, that he felt like he couldn’t go to Obi-Wan for help, but Obi-Wan is determined to fix that. He promises he won’t leave Anakin and won’t abandon him no matter what.
((Later on Anakin is able to become human again for short periods of time when he’s in a really good mood. The better state his mind becomes the longer these periods last. It’s not until Anakin and Obi-Wan become honest with each other and start a relationship does Anakin gain true control over his form.))
