Hi, Moddy. I love dociledoll and nostringscanholdme. Could we see more of Rex and Obi-wan with the renegade clones? Maybe some gentle scheming to get the two of them together, especially if there was some pining going on between them before the Republic fell? Thank you for all your hard work!

It’s pure luck that saves Obi-Wan
from getting punched in the jaw, even if the Jedi doesn’t seem to
notice it when he jumps into Rex bed, his hair wild and eyes wide.
“Rexyouhavetoseethis!ItsCodyyougottaseethis!” The Jedi gasped
out, clearly having run all the way from his own quarters at the end
of the hallway.

Blinking
blearily,
his heart in his throat, Rex stared up at the man straddling his
waist, his mind slowly coming back onto track from
what he thought was an attack as he finally managed to clear his
throat and free himself from the covers so he can push himself up on
his elbows, rubbing sleep from his eyes. “Repeat that one more time
Obi-Wan, slower and clearer please. Lights
forty percent.” He mumbled
out, voice husky from his sleep despite being fully awake from the
adrenaline still pumping through his veins as
dim light flooded his quarters.

Waking
a soldier like that was never good and Obi-Wan knew it, so what in
bloods oaths name was goi-

“I
know where Cody is.” Obi-Wan stated, clearly, voice excited yet
frightened at the same time, piercing through the fog of the battle
adrenaline as Rex caught the name of his vod.

Dropping
his hand sharply, he stared at the Jedi, eyes slightly wide before
lowering them as Obi-Wan hit play on his little recorder.

It
was a clip of Darth Vader, a part of Rex wondered why in kark Obi-Wan
had been watching that, it could trigger a panic attack but the
bigger part of him took notice of the man beside him, the trooper,
the commander.

Cody.

Wearing
the 501st
blue but sans his helmet, his face the picture of professionalism as
he followed Vader’s lead with his helmet under his arm as Vader and
his Fist of clone troopers subjugated yet another planet for the
Empire and tried to root out rebels.

Mouth
dry, Rex stared, unable to take his eyes off Cody.

Those
features that meet his everyday and yet so unfamiliar at the same
time.

It
wasn’t the first time he had seen a chipped trooper but it was the
first time it had punched him so wholly to see a friend because he
knew that Cody would never
follow Vader.

Cody,
for all his appearances, had a bleeding heart Rex liked to tease he
had gotten from Obi-Wan, Cody liked to help, he liked children.

And
he had adored his Jedi the same way Rex had adored Anakin Skywalker.

Not
Vader, but Skywalker.

Those
two weren’t the same, regardless if the looks of the man were there
still.

Something
unnatural and twisted had taken Rex Jedi away and left behind a
facsimile of the General Rex had known, a mocking likeness that
pissed on everything Anakin Skywalker had once held holy.

His
love, his desire for freedom, his disgust for slavers and slavery…

And
yet Vader was holding Rex’s brothers as his slaves via the biochips
in their brains.

Had
killed Padme Amidala, his wife.

And
the less said about what he had done to Obi-Wan, the better.

Slowly,
Rex managed to bring his eyes to Obi-Wan’s excited ones, his own
holding nothing but sadness before he shook his head. “Obi-Wan…
we can’t.” He whispered.

Denial,
anger and then acceptance flooded Obi-Wan’s eyes in rapid
succession, prompting Rex to sit up more and hold his arms open to
the man, uncaring that he wasn’t wearing a shirt as he pulled the
other into his chest.

He
did flush a bit when he noticed Obi-Wan was only in one long tunic.

The
other had run through the hall in only his tunic…

‘I
hope the guards didn’t see him.’ Rex thought to himself even as
he held the other man to him, the barrier of their clothes and the
blanket being the only thing between them.

“Why?”
Obi-Wan whispered, his lips brushing the still bed warm skin of Rex
shoulder as he rested his head against it. “We know where he is, we
could… we could get him back.” He trembled against Rex, just one
of many survivors of the horror the Emperor had unleashed on them.

Resting
his chin on Obi-Wan’s head, Rex breathed out heavily. “I want to,
please believe me when I say I want to but Obi-Wan… this is a trap.
You know it’s a trap.” He stated sadly, wishing desperately that
he could do something to ease the pain the other surely was in as he
rubbed Obi-Wan’s back but
knowing that this was a trap as surely as Obi-Wan was warm in his
arms.

The
small holo projector slipped from Obi-Wan’s hold and onto the bed,
still playing the clip of Vader and Cody moving forward only to
repeat the sequences, the Jedi letting out a stifled little noise
before he hugged the other as tightly as he could, trembling into Rex
body.

Cursing
out Palpatine, the galaxy and Vader all at once, Rex simply held on,
wishing there was something he could do.

‘Why
is happiness so hard to get and
keep.’ He cursed bitterly
even as he smoothed his hands along Obi-Wan’s back.

Bonds of affection is cute. 😁 I wonder what the 212th and 501st think about the situation and Tex transferring. And I hope that Ani gets his answers, as long as he plays nice. He semestre decently reasonable in this au.

Standing beside the General with his helmet tucked under his arm, Rex
gave Cody a slight nod as the vod finally closed the distance between
them, the man’s brow raised curiously as he glanced between his
General and his vod.

There were explanations
due and while Rex was a bit nervous about it, he knew that Obi-Wan
was even more nervous.

The last thing Obi-Wan
wanted was to give off the suggestion that he was taking advantage of
Rex.

Not that anyone would
believe that of the vode but who knew what natural born would think
when they heard, they could think gross and unnatural things in
regards to the Jedi they worked with sometimes Rex had come to learn.

He felt Obi-Wan’s
anxiety spike and with a soft sigh, he slipped in closer to gently
bump their shoulders together in a gentle move, awkwardly trying to
press some assurance through the bond but he was really not good with
things like this.

He would have to ask
someone for help, maybe Ahsoka?

He could ask Obi-Wan of
course but he sort of wanted to give the other a pleasant surprise,
something to make Obi-Wan smile and kiss him maybe?

That did sound very
appealing.

Finally the entire 212th
was gathered, Cody and Rex standing on each side of Obi-Wan, the
captain and commander flanking the general, fully in support despite
Cody knowing nothing about the situation.

Cody had of course tried
to get a read of Rex and Obi-Wan’s face, knowing both as well as he
did, but this was a harder situation to catch onto despite the
actions Rex had taken before this.

Clearing his throat,
Obi-Wan sent everyone a serene smile that showed none of the nerves
Rex could feel bubbling beneath his skin. “I’m happy to see
everyone so prompt to the summon and as we have a multitude of chores
and work to do today, I’ll make this as short as I can,” He
gestured to his right where Rex was standing. “As you can all see,
Captain Rex is with us today. There is…” Here the Jedi finally
trailed off.

The nerves were catching
up, anxiety coiling in him, ripping apart the Negotiator.

To everyone else, he
simply seemed ponderous but to Rex, who could feel the truth, he
could feel the absolute dread building in him, choking and killing
the words in his throat as soon as he thought of them.

Stepping forward, taking
the attention, Rex tilted his chin up and kept his shoulders squared.
“I’m transferred to the 212th. Permanently.” He
stated, calm, steady and only raising a brow when a soft mutter broke
out between the troopers.

But he could take the
curious looks as he felt Obi-Wan’s gratefulness well up inside of
their shared bond.

“Yes. Captain Rex will
be joining the 212th, this is due to a…” Obi-Wan
struggled once more.

Rex knew what he thought
of his own ability.

A liability, one he tried
to limit, one he did not approve of, one that he wanted gone.

Rex felt himself tighten,
his skin suddenly stretched too taunt across his own body as he
turned his head and glared at the man.

The man, not the Jedi, not
the General but the man that he had a bond to, the man he loved. “If
you call your ability a liability one more time, so help me by
Jango’s bones…” He hissed quietly though fully heard by the
rest of the 212th he was now a part of.

He could see Cody with his
head turned, his brows practically leaving his face even as
realization entered his eyes.

Yes, Cody certainly at the
very least suspected Obi-Wan’s ability.

Coloring, Obi-Wan cleared
his throat and rubbed his beard, opening his mouth once then closing
it as he continued stroking his chin. “…The ancient people of
Stewjon has an ability that some would consider…” He trailed off
again, Rex narrowed his eyes even further, obviously transmitting his
emotions through their bond as Obi-Wan shifted with discomfort.
“…Hindrance.” Rex let out an unhappy little growl and only Cody
timely stepping up a bit so he could eye the General saved Rex’s
riduur from the mild verbal lashing he wanted to unleash.

“Ability sir?” He
stated, a small smile curling his lips. “Might it have something
with why the 212th is so well tuned at working together
with you and I seem to have an innate ability to find you?” He
cocked his brows.

Laughing sheepishly,
Obi-Wan shifted, the nerves still running under his skin despite his
relaxed face. “Well, that is one way of saying it yes. My ancestors
could instigate bonds, it’s a defense mechanism, it helps in
creating clans so to speak and I may have… tied a few.” He
glanced furtively at Rex.

‘Enough bushwacking.’
Rex rolled his eyes, turning back to the rest of the 212th,
jabbing his thumb over his shoulder at the Jedi. “He’s my riduur.
Anyone that has an issue with that can take it up with my foot. Echo
is now captain of the 501st, go bother him if you got
lovers over there, I’m done with all of you in that regards.” He
stated bluntly, smugly hearing Obi-Wan squeak and feel his pleasure
filled embarrassment curling through their bond as the 212th
started laughing and catcalling.

What happens next with that new ObiRex story?

Lifting the tent flap and peeking in, Anakin paused as he found Rex
and Obi-Wan curled up in bed, the trooper resting on his back with
Obi-Wan curled up against his side with his head on Rex chest, the
latter clearly asleep with the former gently stroking the soft baby
hairs of Obi-Wan’s nape.

He
only briefly paused when Anakin stuck his head in before nodding.
“General.” He murmured calmly.

Hesitating,
Anakin glanced at his master then back at his captain, taking notice
of how outside of Rex’s armor and Obi-Wan’s boots and armor
pieces, both were fully dressed beneath the blanket.

“He
won’t wake, he’s too tired sir,” Rex stated when he noticed
where Anakin was looking. “I think we could bang pots and pans or
blasters by the tent and he’d sleep through it.” He tacked on,
glancing worriedly down at the man pressed to his chest.

Stepping
in, assured by Rex, Anakin frowned. “He’s that bad off?” He
murmured, still on the quieter side just in case.

Rex
shrugged as well as he could with obi-Wan on his chest. “He hasn’t
been sleeping properly for a week practically, what sleep he’s
managed to snag felt fragmented or uneasy at best.” The clone
captain explained quietly.

Rubbing
his chin, Anakin thoughtfully threw his mind back over Obi-Wan’s
tea.

Now
that Rex was saying it, he started to remember just how many cups of
caffeinated and mildly stimulating teas the other had been drinking.
“…Might want to check him for stims if you can get him to go to
Helix.” He finally murmured.

Rex
face tightened in displeasure but he nodded sharply, still rubbing
the soft hairs of Obi-Wan’s nape in a soothing, tender motion. “I’d
get up and salute you sir but if I move that much, he will wake,
regardless how tired he is.” He settled on, quieter now, obviously
in thought.

Glancing
around Obi-Wan’s tent, taking in the folded robe over a rickety
chair and the pads on the table along with an abandoned cup of tea,
Anakin gave a hum. “Rather he sleep if he’s settled as nicely as
you are implying…” Anakin settled on.

Silence
descended between them, only broken by the slight snoring noise
escaping Obi-Wan’s mouth and nose, the redheaded mouth slightly
ajar.

Finally
Rex let out a deep sigh. “Sir, I don’t want to be impetuous but
may I ask what you’re doing here? What it is you want?” He
gingerly questioned, staring at Anakin with knotted brows, amber eyes
full of obvious worry.

By the
way his arm was curled around Obi-Wan while stroking the soft hairs,
Anakin suspected the other was worried he’d wake the older Jedi.
That Anakin had come to demand answers despite Obi-Wan promising him
them later. “Just… wanted to ask why you picked Echo to take over for you,” He
admitted with some abashment, rubbing the back of his neck. “Not to
offend him but I know why he’s named Echo.” Anakin quickly added
when Rex’s brows raised.

A
little snort escaped Rex before he nodded. “Of course sir, I can
see why… well, I picked Echo because he’s meticulous but adapts
well to battle and initiative, he would manage to cope well with your
flexibility and innovative method on the battlefield. Plus I know you
find his humor appealing.” The captain explained steadily with a
slight grin, humming slightly when Obi-Wan shifted against him with a
little noise.

They
both paused, watching Obi-Wan, waiting until the Jedi was clearly
settled before Anakin spoke. “I can see why you’d pick Echo then
in front of his other vod,” He noted quietly, musing on it before
focusing back on Rex. “Does he know?” Anakin chuckled slightly,
neither agreeing or denying he he liked Echo’s brand of humor.

He got
a head shake in return. “No, not yet. I haven’t had time to
inform him between the meeting and this…” Rex confessed
sheepishly, Anakin noting with some amusement that the others ears
and cheeks were turning slightly pink.

Snorting
slightly, Anakin gave a nod, his grin widening slightly. “At ease
Rex, I can inform him on my own that he’s taking over your
position. Do you want me to inform him why?” He raised his brow.

Rex
glanced down at Obi-Wan, his eyes softening with tenderness before he
nodded. “I don’t mind if you tell him,” Rex whispered, pressing
his lips to Obi-Wan’s forehead. “I don’t mind at all…”

Feeling
like he was intruding on something extremely private, Anakin gave a
sharp nod and quickly slipped out, closing the tent flaps behind him
as Rex murmured quietly loving words against the others skin.

So I’ve been thinking a lot about that fic you started where Obi has formed some sort of bond with Rex and Rex may have to join the 212th. Can we please get more of that one? Just what sort of bond is it? Does Rex feel the bond on his end despite not being a Force user?

Its
clear that whatever Skywalker is feeling at this moment, he is only
reluctantly leaving Obi-Wan and Rex alone, the desire for answers
obvious on his face but soft, gently spoken words from the older Jedi
reassured the blond that he would get his answers.

Just
not right now.

Right
now, Obi-Wan and Rex had to speak.

Following
the other closely through
camp,
Rex gave Killer a small nod as he kept his hand on Obi-Wan’s
shoulder, feeling
every vod in sight distance take notice of them.

He
knew the rumor mill of the vode would travel hard and fast but
couldn’t find it in himself to care, couldn’t really bother to
find concern.

Not
when his entire body was demanding he wrap Obi-wan up in his arms,
not when his entire being was screaming that Obi-Wan needed to be
held.

Not
when his own soul was longing to hold him as much as his body was
telling him to do it.

Finally
they reached Obi-Wan’s tent, the Jedi stepping in and holding the
flaps open so the captain could step in first before following in
after and closing the canvas flaps tightly behind them while Rex
worked his chest plate and
arm armor off, setting it on the rickety table the General had for
his files.

He
took half notice of the bed that was so impeccably folded and tucked.

“Rex,
I’m really sorry about this, I never mea-” Obi-Wan murmured as
he turned around only to jump in surprise as he was pulled into a
tight hug, Rex letting out a deep, relieved breath as he finally held
the Jedi tightly to him.

In
his arms, Obi-Wan tensed
up, holding his breath before
he collapsed into the arms, pressing his forehead to the shoulder of
the other man, breathing in the military standard grade soap, the
cheap detergent the underblacks were being laundered with and the
musky scent of human sweat.

Pressing
his nose into the greasy red hair of the other man, Rex took a deep
breath and ran one hand up and down the others spine, his heart
slowly falling into sync with Obi-Wan’s beats as he held on as
tightly as humanly possible. “…Don’t care how it happened.
Don’t care that it’s in the middle of a war. Don’t even care
that you’re my superior and this is really against
the chain of command,” He whispered into the greasy hair, feeling
Obi-Wan tense in his arms. “Because you are mine,
this
bond wouldn’t have formed without me returning your feelings in
some way, as your own words implied back with the high generals.”
Rex pointed out, his lips curling in displeasure at a wave of self
disgust rising in Obi-Wan.

He
had paid attention while Obi-Wan had been talking about his last
bond, the Muellaka bond was as close to marriage without a ceremony
to his understanding and it was built on mutually
shared emotions.

On
love and care and tenderness.

Sliding
his hand up Obi-Wan’s back, stroking his neck and then cupping the
Jedi’s head, Rex gently tilted the other’s head back so he could
see Obi-Wan’s face, meeting those shamed green eyes square on. “I
love you, I have for weeks if not months.” He stated sternly,
gently shaking Obi-Wan’s head via the hold on his scalp.

“But…
I…” Obi-Wan opened and closed his eyes a few times before
swallowing sharply and pressing his forehead to Rex shoulder again, a
convoluted mess of emotions rising in him.

Rex
allowed him to hide though, he could understand more now than he did
before, how much of the Negotiator’s suave and confident appearance
was exactly that.

Appearance.

It
was an act.

Because
under all that, under General Kenobi, under Jedi master Obi-Wan
Kenobi… was simply Obi-Wan, uncertain, nervous, needy and
desperately in need of someone to hold him and
reassure him that things were going to be alright.

A
shuddering sigh escaped Rex as he just held Obi-Wan, let him shiver
against Rex warm body and seek comfort he normally shied away from
out of a desperate need to hold his act going.

No strings can hold me. can we have more of that one please? What’s Vader planning? do Obi Wan and Rex get some nice cuddle time or even a kiss? DOES VADER SEE THAT KISS IN A VISION?!

Pacing
in the living room of his Senatorial apartment, Vader toxic yellow
eyes narrowed in hate and displeasure, rage wafting of him for anyone
to feel.

Even
those without Force could sense it, like a slithering layer of humid
heat against their skin but Vader did not care.

No,
he had things to think about, he had someone to find
but no way to get them back because he had no idea where they were
and that meant that he would have to lure his Jedi back to him.

However
there was an issue with that.

There
were many things in the galaxy that Obi-Wan Kenobi had once cared
about and most of them were gone.

Some
of them by Vader’s own hand and some of them by others.

Satine
Kryze by Maul’s hand, taking a rival down in Vader’s but also
leaving a gaping hole in Obi-Wan’s chest and losing Vader an
opportunity to leverage her over Obi-Wan even before Vader was
created.

The
same went for Qui-Gon Jinn, also taken away by Maul long before Vader
was even a thought in Sidious mind.

Anakin
Skywalker was weak and therefore was destroyed by Vader when he was
created in fire and blood, he wasn’t foolish enough to consider
that Obi-Wan would come running back for a few heartfelt words and it
wouldn’t trick him into thinking ‘Anakin’ was back and there
was no way whoever had him would let him run back.

The
Jedi temple perhaps?

But
that would include destroying Sidious and Vader wasn’t quite ready
for that, regardless how much he hated the old creep, he still needed
him to teach him, to control the populace and to show him more of the
Sith’s way.

There
were the holocrons of course, Obi-Wan might return for the holocrons
of the Jedi but whoever he was with, who made him smile, would not
let him run off for that without being protected.

Then
there was the Jedi order itself… less said about that and its
members, the better, there were no one left that Obi-Wan would come
running for right now.

Ahsoka
was a viable vector honestly but Vader didn’t have
her, regardless how much he searched for his former padawan, she too
had disappeared into so much dust of the galaxy and every summon and
request he had sent out had been ignored.

Either
Ahsoka was dead or she had turned on him too.

There
was no one else that Vader could see Obi-Wan be willing to stick his
head out for left in the entire gala-Vader froze in the middle of his
living room floor, his eyes widening in shock before narrowing in
contemplation once more as the breeze blew the heavy dark curtains
gently on the floor.

There
was one soul.

Now
that Vader truly allowed himself to think about
it.

One
soul, one person that was within his grasp that Obi-Wan cared for
enough to be willing to risk not
only his life for but also his soul and maybe whoever he was with.

One
man.

Reaching
for his comm link, Vader stared at the Jedi temple in the distance as
he typed in a code.

It
was quickly picked up. “Lord Vader sir, this is Commander Fox, at
your disposal.” A clear and familiar voice came through.

Licking
his lips, Vader settled back on his heels. “Commander, I want you
to have the 212th
brought to Coruscant and in particular, to have Commander Cody
transferred to my personal squad, effective immediately.”

There
was a pause, surprise clear even over the audio only comm before it
crackled. “Of course sir, I will start making arrangement to have
them transferred to you Lord Vader.” Fox promptly responded.

Smiling
slowly, lips curling cruelly, Vader shut down his comm, staring at
the old Jedi temple turned Imperial castle. “…One person. Let’s
see how long you will hide once you know where Commander Cody is, my
dear Obi-Wan.” All
Vader would need to do is to orchestrate some information spilling.

But
that wouldn’t be so hard now would it, after all, the 212th
colors were still the bright orange.

And
Obi-Wan had always cared for his commander.

Pushing
ugly jealousy away, Vader continued smiling darkly at the old temple,
full of besmirched memories.

‘I’ll
have you back soon Obi-Wan… soon.’

Shivering,
goosebumps breaking out under his leathers, Obi-Wan looked around in
confusion as he stepped closer to Rex side.

“Is
something wrong?” Rex paused, letting the others disembark and
slide away into the crowds to collect supplies as they were separated
to different vode. “Ben?” He leaned in a bit, his hand coming to
grasp Obi-Wan’s.

“I…
I don’t know. For a moment I just felt cold.” Obi-Wan returned
quietly, tightening his hold on Rex hand.

Alert,
Rex glanced around too, now on guard before quietly pulling Obi-Wan’s
hood up. “…Let’s not stir up any trouble then.” He murmured
quietly, both of them keeping to the shadows and trying to remain out
of view for any cameras they saw.

It
could be nothing of course, but both Obi-Wan and Rex knew that the
Force was a handy ally.

And
even just a feeling to a Force sensitive could be important to listen
to.

Rex
slid his arm around Obi-Wan, tucking him into his side as they moved
towards a junkyard, a few machine components on their list that they
could hopefully get cheap as they remained on guard throughout the
day.

Obex hurt and comfort?

It
had been a tease, a gentle one.

But
oh, how bitterly didn’t Anakin regret making it now, four weeks
afterwards.

Just
seeing the way Obi-Wan had enjoyed speaking with Rex, the flush on
the tip of the others ears and the back of his neck, the smile on his
lips and he unconscious
way he seemed to always brush up against the Captain.

He
had just wanted to tease a bit!

He
had made a comparison about Duchess Satine and Captain Rex, both
blond and both mandorian.

Well,
mandorian blood at least when it came to Rex and he had some of the
mannerism of the mando’a Anakin had meet, the clones trying to make
their own cultures.

Obi-Wan
had given him a wide eyed, stricken look, just for a second and if
Anakin hadn’t been looking at him, he might not have caught the
seconds of mixed emotions in the others eyes and an apology had been
on the tip of his tongue before Obi-Wan had suddenly started to laugh
and wave him off.

Claiming
that Rex was just a very capable man that Obi-Wan enjoyed speaking
with.

His
tone had been… off, a bit high pitched.

And
yet, Anakin hadn’t gotten to speak with him because the subject in
question had just arrived with Ahsoka and Commander Cody.

And
then it had started, the hellish month of Obi-Wan avoiding Rex.

It
wasn’t apparent at
first but then it started to become more and more obvious, Obi-Wan
avoiding being too close to the man, avoiding sitting at the same
table as him in the mess, keeping all conversations professional and
seemingly even running away when the possibility that they might end
up close presented itself.

And
it was Anakin’s
fault.

For
pointing it out, for making Obi-Wan aware.

Satine
was all the way over on Mandalore,

Rex
was here, in close quarters and kind of impossible to really avoid.

And
yet Obi-Wan was managing it and by the frustrated and slightly hurt
look on Rex face at time, the Captain had noticed.

Fuck.

And
then they figured out
why

Obi-Wan had panicked and practically fled from Rex at every
opportunity.

Because
Rex had finally had enough had slammed his tray down on the table,
marching over to a visibly panicking Obi-Wan, who had tried to excuse
himself only for Anakin to be right behind him and cutting of the
escape.

And
that’s how it came out that not only was Obi-Wan not sleeping but
apparently he had a skin rash covering his back, pulsing and painful
that Rex could feel,
the captain grabbing the Jedi by the shoulders and guiding him first
to the medic as Obi-Wan stopped fleeing and stopped fighting.

Which
lead them to this moment.

“I
swear I didn’t mean for this to happen!” Obi-Wan looked on the
verge of an emotional breakdown, something Anakin had never seen and
didn’t think Obi-Wan could do as he stood in front of the council
holo, something desperate in his eyes. “I didn’t even notice the
beginning and only when Anakin made a comment did I no-”

“Blame
you we do not,” Yoda croaked, cutting into the words just as Anakin
started to feel a bit desperate himself. “Natural this is to you,
to Stewjoni natives, calm down you must Obi-Wan.” He finished, ears
twitching and pulling down, betraying his own calmness to the
situation.

Or
maybe his displeasure, Anakin could never tell.

Obi-Wan
swallowed heavily but fell silent.

“How
do you feel, Captain Rex?” Adi suddenly questioned, voice soft and
shifting the focus on the third occupant of the communication room.

Anakin
shot the captain a look, taking in how hard he was holding around his
helmet despite how calm his face was. “I feel the urge to move to
Obi-Wan’s side and help him calm down, his stress levels is way
above acceptable sirs.” He spoke steadily, Obi-Wan flinching as
Anakin shot him an incredous look.

“I’m
sorry,” Anakin cut in, raising his hands to pull everyone’s
attention to him. “But what in kark’s name is going on here?”
He looked about, lost and a bit angry if
he was honest.

“Told
him you have not?” Yoda peered sternly at Obi-Wan, the redhead
flinching once more.

Licking
his lips, Obi-Wan opened his mouth only to close it again, the
Negotiator clearly at loss for words before his shoulder slumped, the
man staring down at his feet. “It wasn’t important, with our
bond, Anakin didn’t have the need to know and I didn’t want to
worry him,” He finally whispered quietly. “This is my burden to
bear, not anyone else.” Obi-Wan finished, a bit firmer.

Frown
growing, Anakin stared at his former master before snapping his head
around to look at Master Windu when the man cleared his throat.
“Stewjon native’s have a peculiar defense mechanism with
all it’s ancient natives by blood being Force sensitive,”
He
explained in a lecturing voice, exchanging by looking between Rex and
Anakin, clearly explaining to both. Anakin stared at him, feeling a
shiver along his spine as Obi-Wan continued staring at his feet.
“They form bonds as easily as they breath, making ties to the
people around them, making them part of their ‘clans’ and
families as it makes it harder to harm someone you have a bond to.”
Mace murmured, sitting back as Anakin and Rex took in the information and the implication.

“Now
a days,” Obi-Wan whispered. “They’re more a menace than a boon,
we try to… not to create these bonds, but when emotions run deep
enough…” He fell mute.

Staring
at his former master, Anakin felt an odd sensation in his chest.
Obi-Wan had tried to flee when he realized his emotions were
deepening to prevent a bond already grown.

Too
little, too late and now Anakin’s captain was bonded to Anakin’s
former master. “…Does that mean you have bonds to others?” He
slowly asked.

Sighing
deeply, Obi-Wan nodded his head. “Most of the temple of varying
kinds and dept. I’ve managed to limit the ones to the 212th
but there are a few there too… most of them are unaware but there
is a reason why Cody can tell when I need tea. And the ones in the temple are easy to control and moderate, like our bond as my former padawan.” He whispered out,
his face the picture of shame, like a dog that had shit the carpets with an angry owner.

“Tell
us Obi-Wan, what kind of bond do you have to Captain Rex? Is it
necessary to transfer him to the 212th?”
Depa suddenly asked, Anakin jumping in surprise as Obi-Wan went
ramrod stiff, silence permeating the room.

“What?” Anakin blinked, confused.

hey Moddy!! I really enjoyed dociledoll and I love it continuation: nostringscanholdme! Can you continue it please? Are rex and obi wan going to finally get together? Also, what about cody? is he still brainwashed under the empire’s control? Can they go rescue him?

Taking
a deep breath of fresh air while tilting his face up towards the sun,
Obi-Wan took in the comfort of the sun on his skin before opening his
eyes when he heard a hoot of joy, watching with a small grin as two
clones were fighting their way out of their clothes while running
towards the shore line, throwing
up sand with their bare feet when they reached the beach line before
throwing themselves nude as the day they were decanted into the most
likely chilly water.

“Well,
at least someones eager for a bit of respite,” Rex noted dryly as
he slid up beside the Jedi, his brow cocked with a small smirk
playing
on
his lips as
he observed his vode with mirth clearly lurking in his eyes. “Didn’t
think I’d see full moons in the afternoon.”

Chuckling
slightly, Obi-Wan shrugged. “It’s not often we take a break from
space, much less in a place like this.” He glanced around, taking
in the beautiful shades of green all around them, the color broken up
with flowers here and there and then the waste ocean that was fresh
of all things.

A
practically untouched moon and most likely not on the Empire’s
radar.

They
could refill their water here and get some shore leave without worry
and it was doing Obi-Wan’s lungs a world of good to be out of the
ship and the recycled air for a bit.

Homebase
was their home now for sure but that didn’t mean that Obi-Wan
didn’t miss the sensation of a proper wild forest around him at
times, the growing beds rooms were nice but nothing like this forest.

“They
aren’t the only ones who could do with some respite, though maybe
not in direct sunlight, Helix would have our heads if we let you get
sunburned again.” Rex noted out loud, breaking Obi-Wan from his
thoughts as the captain’s hand lightly slid around Obi-Wan’s
waist, pulling him towards the circle of chairs that had been set up
in the shade.

The
arm around his waist was light, could easily be broken away from and
Obi-Wan relished in it.

So
different from the suffocating and hard grasp Vader had always used.

Gentle
affection and warmth even as Rex gently pushed him into a
chair in the shade.

It
was a nice spot and it became even nicer when Rex took the seat
beside him, the two settling in to watch everyone do their own
things.

Some
were swimming or playing around in the water, some were picking
shells from the beach, some had laid down to sunbath and others were
simply milling around in the forest line, a few making their way
towards Rex and Obi-Wan.

The
sight of some of them made Obi-Wan’s chest hurt, particularly
Reflex, who sported a scar curving his temple. “…Do you think
Cody is alright?” He whispered before he could stop himself, seeing
Rex tense out of the corner of his eyes.

And
clearly the approaching group had heard him too, because suddenly
they were heading a different direction, making their way into the
forest instead.

The
waves lapped at the beach and the sound of the vode playing around
filled the cold silence between them before Rex finally slumped
forward, his face in his hands. “I don’t know. I hardly know
anything about anyone who hasn’t managed to de-chip themselves.
Last I heard, Cody was being sent to Kamino to be an instructor for
the younger vode.” He murmured heavily, raising his head to look at
Obi-Wan with a worn down expression.

Nodding
slowly, Obi-Wan shifted until he could lay his head on Rex shoulder,
both quietly missing their friend and brother. “…Last I saw him,
he was handing me my lightsaber moments before he fired at me.” He
whispered, feeling Rex tense up again.

“I’m
so-”

Obi-Wan
cut in, shaking his head without lifting it. “It wasn’t his fault
and it wasn’t your fault, I know whose fault it is and I don’t
blame any of you.” Obi-Wan sighed softly and Rex slowly slid an arm
around him, the two watching the ocean and the vode play without
saying anything else.

In
a way, Obi-Wan was grateful that Rex didn’t promise to find Cody.

It
would be close to an impossible promise, regardless how much they
wanted them free.

With
so many clones…

But
it was nice to hope and wish.

After
what Vader had done to him, Obi-Wan was allowed to wish for things
now that he was safe and together with Rex and the Vode Alliance as
it had become known as.

The
vode, a few Jedi and the freedom of space.

And
Obi-Wan at Rex side, safe and content.

‘And
maybe…’ Obi-Wan hesitantly reached out and grasped the Rex left
hand, slowly lacing their fingers together as Rex tightened his right
arm around Obi-Wan. ‘Maybe even happy.’

Rare ship time! Obi Wan Kenobi and Rex. (I ship Obi Wan with many people…)

This is the moments before a kiss. Lonely Obi Wan and unhappily in love Rex (with Anakin in my head canon) seek comfort in each other in a moment alone on a desolate planet while waiting for rescue.

Reblogs are greatly appreciated to help spread my art and this fun rare ship ❤
