Codywan baby, by the Force, Cody is left alone again in the empire with his chip! Does Obi-Wan even know his lover is chipped?
Looking over at Obi-Wan, Padme gave a quiet sigh before moving to the
others side and sitting down at the back seat beside him in the
cockpit. “I’m sorry about this Obi-Wan, all of it.” She finally
said, reaching out and resting his hand on the others shoulder and
glancing down at the baby tucked up against his chest. “I’m so
sorry we weren’t looking after you better.”
Quirking his lips faintly, Obi-Wan shook his head. “Its more my
fault then yours, I was the one who decided to hide.”
Up in the front the pilot made a low noise, just clearing her throat
so they were aware that she could hear everything.
Padme made an amused noise. “I don’t think Obi-Wan cares if you
hear everything Sabe.” She said in amusement.
“Still, just making sure you both know I’m here.” Sabe glanced
back and grinned at Obi-Wan.
He smiled back before he sighed. “I’m more upset over seeing Cody
honestly… I thought I was ready for it but…” His shoulders
slumped as he stared down at his little Waxer who bubbled happily and
pulled on the sling a bit.
Padme took one of his hands at that and held it in hers.
“…Underneath the chip, it still the man that loved you in there…”
Licking his lips, Obi-Wan let out a shuddering breath. “…When he
shot me down… when they shot me down… the I broke. Whatever is
there now… its not my love, not my Cody…” He whispered, feeling
Padme tighten her grip on his hand. “Cody is somewhere in there I
know but right now the chip is what’s controlling him because a
riduur would never try to…”
He shuddered, closing his eyes tightly.
Padme said nothing, rubbing the back of his knuckles with her thumb.
Her own husband had tried to kill her, so she understood the pain
perhaps better then most even though she had at least had a little
bit of a warning.
In retrospect, a blessing in disguise even if it hurt deeply.
No, no dwelling on the past, what was done was over.
Now all they could do was move forward.
“Its still the chip. If we can remove it…” Padme murmured
softly.
Obi-Wan gave a quiet laugh at that and turned his tired eyes on her.
“Padme… Cody is a trained vode, they were trained to the teeth,
to capture one of them without fatalities or injuries would be…
close to impossible.”
Squeezing his hands, Padme opted not to tell her about the plans
already in motions and instead pulled the floating stroller closer.
“You haven’t seen your godchildren in quite a few months, say
hello to them at least.”
Opening his eyes, Obi-Wan couldn’t help a grin. “My, they are
getting bigger.” He cooed, reaching out his free hand to gently
tease Luke’s button nose.
“They are almost a year and a half now.” Padme laughed. “Of
course they’re bigger, you haven’t seen them since they were six
months and Bail took you away to the smaller Alliance base.” She
wiggled a bit.
Humming at that, Obi-Wan switched his hand to Leia and stroked her
chubby little cheek as she squeaked at him. “True and you only seen
Waxer in holos… I’d offer to let you hold him but I’d rather
not pull him out of the sling right now.” He chuckled.
Padme just smiled and nodded. “I can wait until we land.” She
peeked at Waxer. “But he’s getting big too, seven months old…”
She marveled at the chubby little face with dark hair curled to his
head.
It was amazing how fast time went by with kids around.
