In black pearls what happens to Anakin? What does Obi-Wan do to him?
“So you would have…drowned me would you?” The two stared at
each other for a long moment and then Obi-Wan smiled at the girl with
a little hum and a nod.
“I would have, that’s my job. I’m the temptation of sailors and
the misery of the greedy. You’re not greedy, your wish was
genuine.” He tilted his head, the second ever white pearl in his
hair catching the light.
Ahsoka stared at the mer for a long moment as she sat on the little
island. “…But father Plo will now breath more easily, right?”
“Yes, your wish was genuine, your heart is warm and gentle and
therefor your request was granted. He will breath easier until the
day he joins the soil of the dead.” Obi-Wan hummed, flickering his
blue and silver tail in the light of the sun.
The dark skinned girl stared at him for a long moment. “…You have
a lot of pearls in your hair, only one more is white. The black ones,
are they all…”
“Death? Indeed little girl who pretended to be a boy.” Obi-Wan
smiled sadly at her. “That’s the fate of sailors and pirates
whose wishes are not from the heart. I liked some of them, some of
them took days to debate what they wanted before they kissed me.”
Wrinkling her nose at him, Ahsoka pouted. “I told you, I had to
earn money somehow to help father Plo and women aren’t allowed the
sail, I’m good at it though!” She waved her hands and then stared
at her hands. “Doesn’t help that white people treat my people
inferior…”
Obi-Wan tilted his head. “…I have to admit I don’t really
understand it. I’m like this because I come from the dept of the
ocean, its just simple skin and I blend in with my scales. So I don’t
understand.” He mused. “A few of my cousins are like you, they
come from the warmer climates.” He gave a wide and sharp toothed
grin. “One tricks men by being a naked woman on land about to take
a swim, their actions leads to their own demise.”
That got a small smile out of Ahsoka. “I know that one, the mami
wata…they’re powerful and scary.” She whispered. “Just like
you.”
Obi-Wan winked and looked around. “Only to those who are greedy. I
was raised as a spirit of water and foam, my nature is the nature of
the ocean.” He offered.
Staring at the merman basking in the sun for a long moment, Ahsoka
licked his lips and asked the question she had wondered. “You have
two white pearls, one is mine. Who has the other? What did they wish
for?” She bit her lips.
A slow smile crossed Obi-Wan’s smile. “His.” He pointed and
Ahsoka looked towards where a rowboat was coming towards the little
island she had woken up on after the shipwreck.
The man looked like he was in his fifties but strong, a giant of a
man honestly with a barrel chest and powerful arms rowing his boat.
He had fine hairs of white mixed into his brown and a rather untamed
looking beard.
Even from this distance she could see his blue eyes.
“His name is Qui-Gon, he’ll bring you to land.” Obi-Wan
chuckled.
Watching the rowboat, she slowly looked to Obi-Wan. “…What did he
wish for?”
Humming, Obi-Wan watched the boat for a few long moments. “He
wished for a childhood friend to see. He caught me in his net and
almost pulled me up in his boat and that was what he wished for. Now
be polite, he likes polite people and perhaps he can help you with a
job.” Obi-Wan winked and then he dove.
The fisher reached the island and held his hand out to Ahsoka,
smiling faintly as he did. “First time I get contacted by a mer to
rescue someone I have to admit. My name’s Qui-Gon Jinn.”
She stood carefully and took the offered hand to get into the boat.
“Ahsoka Tano, shipwrecked.” The two smiled at each other.
