In your time travel fic #IAmBen Obi-Wan and Anakin had just decided tot tell the Council about the clones. Can we see that conversation? Or maybe the Jedi going to Kamino early? Thank you for all the excellent fic!

Very
little could prepare them for Mace to start cursing before throwing a
credit chip at Qui-Gon, the man cackling loudly as Mace glared at
everyone else. “I’ll pay the rest of you at another date.” He
sulked while some of the council members just rubbed thumb and
forefinger together if they had it in the universal ‘pay up’
motion with sly grins.

Ben
and Anakin traded long glances.

Catching
on, Depa just grinned at them. “We kind of suspected something big
was going on, though… I didn’t expect cloning of all things.”
She blinked, rubbing her chin a bit and sitting back in her seat.

“…So
you started a bet?” Anakin blinked at them with wide eyes.

Qui-Gon
pointed at Mace, still wheezing. “He said he’d feel the
shatterpoint, he said he’d figure it out, that it was that large he
would have felt it and
at least have a guess on it, he has bantha shit at this point,
cloning was never in his list of suggestions.”
Qui-Gon finally flopped back in his seat and wiped his eyes.

“Okaaaay,”
Ben blinked, staring at them, tugging awkwardly at one
earring before shaking his head. “Well regardless, the Sith master
is the one orchestrating
the whole thing through former master Yan Dooku unfortunately and
using Sifo-Dyas
as a scapegoat.”

Of
course that made everyone grow serious finally as Ben and Anakin
explained what the clones were ordered for and how things had gone
down.

Both
Ben and Anakin lost their shit however when Yoda spoke up after the
council had soaked up the seriousness. “Pay me you can with showing
up for dinner with me Mace.”

Finally
the two time travelers were allowed to leave, both mute as they made
their way to the elevator as they knew they would be summoned once
more to clarify details once the council had confirmed the troopers
existence since there was some uncertainty.

Neither
Ben nor Anakin took offense to that… too much that was, there was
some offense on Anakin’s side but he understood the need to verify.

Quietly
they made their way towards one of the gardens for a moment of peace,
knowing to take it while they had it as they knew that once the
troopers were out of Sidious and Plagueis
hands…

Well,
things were going to become terrible.

But
hopefully not as terrible as the war had been and then the
destruction of the Jedi.

Flopping
down on the brownish colored grass and rubbing his hands in it,
Anakin sighed deeply and glanced about. “They’re going to stop
the production of the clones, aren’t they?” He questioned quietly
while staring up at the dome ceiling made of glass above them.

“Most
likely.” Ob-Ben answered, moving around Anakin and rustling around
the bushes.

“…Hopefully
I won’t mess things up again, things went so wrong before and I’m
not sure I can handle seeing Padme again,” The blond grimaced. “I
don’t think there will be a Luke and Leia this time.”

Ben
paused somewhere at the edge of his sight but Anakin didn’t turn
away from the sky he could barely see through Coruscant’s clouds
made of both normal sky and pollution.

Then
he jerked in shock as Ben came over and dropped something on his
head. “Wha-”

Touching
the thing Ben
dropped on his head with a noise of confusion, Anakin looked up at
the other with wide eyes as he pulled the soft thing a bit to see
what it was.

A
flower crown of those yellow flowers that grew everywhere, even
in the temple gardens.

Weren’t
those… weeds?

Why
were there weeds in the temple gardens!?

Invasive
as all hell and could start growing on the worst of planets?

“Dandelions
are flowers that can grow practically everywhere,” Ben
knelt down in front of him, smiling at his padawan as
if he knew what the other was thinking.
“They stand for survival through the harshest of conditions and the
warmth of many
suns
because of their yellow glow. And when they get ready to let go of
their seeds they are also said to make wishes come true when you blow
off all the seeds to let them fly.” He brushed his hand down over
Anakin’s cheek. “Just like you and
me,
they survived not
because they were nurtured but despite
all the shit that was thrown at us
and you glow just as brightly as
these blooms.
They may be weed to others, but to me? They’re quite the beautiful
flower.” Ben
smiled wryly.

Blinking
several time, dropping his hands down in his lap while leaving the
flower crown alone, Anakin
stared at Ben before swallowing harshly and throwing himself at Ben,
clinging to the other man, the only other one who understood all
Anakin had gone through. “Ben…”

“We’re
weeds Anakin, beautiful and flawed and yet alive,” Ben whispered
into his hair, hugging him tightly. “Utterly alive with second
chances… lets not let Sidious win this time.” He squeezed the
other.

Then
he smiled sadly as the adult in a teen’s body started to silently
cry into his tunic, his body shaking.

In IAMBEN you said that Ben delayed telling the Council about the Clones, does that mean they will show up in the future?

Reaching out past
the stars and planets, spirit fingers brushing against the living
Force of each planet be it strong or weak, Ben’s body stayed in one
place in the garden as he allowed his own spirit to be brought away
by the Force to answer his question.

It didn’t take
long.

Travel by the Force
in spirit form and travel by ship were very different things but then
again, so was ‘seeing’ in his spirit form.

Kamino glowed in
spirit form, the watery, stormy planet full of life though it was not
the life of the kaminos Ben was looking for. No, he looked deeper and
found the little pulsing balls of light, skating fingers over the
little auras and laughing when he found both Waxer and Boil with ease
even among so many.

Moments later, he
found another he was familiar with but didn’t really know.

He had been one of
Anakin’s men he thought, one of the veterans… maybe Hardcase?

Hmm he wasn’t
sure, he wasn’t as familiar with these aura’s as with his own
men.

Seconds later he
found Cody and there he stopped, lingering as he brushed the aura of
the little trooper.

He couldn’t quite
tell how old they were, couldn’t tell if they were even out of
their tanks yet.

But they were
alive, they existed.

Troopers, alive and
well and breathing.

Slowly, Ben pulled
back, drawing himself back into his body and letting himself breath
properly again. He felt Sidious, trying to follow him, the darkness
obviously having felt him reach out but firmly shut him out of
trailing the Jedi to the temple.

Slowly he opened
his eyes, meeting Anakin’s as the blond sat in front of him with a
tray. “…Well?”

Breathing deeply,
Ben slowly stretched and then nodded. “They’re out there. I found
both Waxer and Boil. And Cody. And I recognized one of yours though I don’t know the name.” He
smiled at Anakin. “How long have I been gone?”

“Two days.” His
padawan pointed firmly at the tray of food in front of Ben. “I had to tell everyone you had
a nasty cold and couldn’t keep down food. Qui-Gon came to check on
you though and Maul sent a message.” He rolled his eyes at that
last message, Anakin would clearly never become fond of Maul.

Smiling a bit as he
began eating, Ben nodded in understanding at the fourteen year old.
“And what did Qui-Gon and Maul have to say?”

“I haven’t red
the message.” Anakin wrinkled his nose then shrugged. “But
Qui-Gon felt you were up to something and came to see that you were
okay. He also stayed for two hours observing you and how you reached
out into the Force, he was very interested it, said something about
the Whills and something?”

Chuckling faintly,
Ben took a big bite out of a bread roll and then dipped it in the
soup. “I see. I imagine he found it interesting.” He hummed.

Anakin smiled a
bit, watching Ben before his face got serious. “What are we going
to do now though?”

Pausing a bit, the
redhead sighed deeply. “That’s the question isn’t it. I’ve
been selfish, trying to get our friends but… we can’t allow
Palpatine his army.” The two stared at each other for a long moment
before Anakin sighed and nodded.

“So we inform the
council…” He whispered.

“Its time to
inform the council, yes. And take the punishment for not informing
them before.” Ben added.

Grimacing a bit at
that, Anakin crossed his arms over his chest rebelliously. “Bah.”

Honestly?

Ben took it as a
victory he wasn’t cursing.

Honestly?

Ben took it as a
victory he wasn’t cursing.

I am Ben: Ben is so used to hiding from Vader and the empire that he unconsciously fades his force signature into the background. Anakin doesn’t like this.

Letting out a big breath of
frustration, Anakin looked around with a sharp frown on his face and
agitation on his face.

Now he knew Ob-BEN, he knew BEN wasn’t
doing it on purpose but it was certainly getting annoying when he was
looking for the man in question.

What was Ben doing?

He was hiding.

Not on purpose, not to be spiteful, not
even because he wanted to hide from people who could find him. No,
Ben was so used to hiding that he was automatically hiding his Force
signature most of the time in an unconscious effort.

So used to hiding from Darth Vader that
he now did it without thought.

Anakin didn’t like it.

Not feeling Ben like he was used to now
that he was Anakin again was… worrying.

There had been so many times during the
clone wars where the only reason Obi-Wan had been saved in time was
because Anakin had been able to follow the others Force signature to
get to him just in time, either for physical rescue or for medical
aid.

But now he could barely search the
other out.

Even in the temple where Ben must feel
safe.

Right?

Anakin crossed his arms over his chest
with a low mumble. Where in all deserts name was Ben?

“Initiate Skywalker?”

The boy turned quickly at the voice,
giving master Mace a quick bow as the Korun peered back at him with a
raised brow. “Master Windu.” The seven year old offered with
false cheer that had the man raise his brow even higher.

“Greetings, you seem unhappy young
one.” The master moved closer. “Is there anything I can assist
with?”

Because of the unique circumstance with
both Ben and Anakin, the council paid a lot closer attention to their
state of mind, just in case.

But perhaps…

Anakin bit his lip. “…I can’t
find Ben. He’s hiding his signature again.” Anakin shifted a bit
on his feet and ran a hand over his curly blond hair that had
darkened a bit with the lack of desert sun, a scowl slowly crossing
his face. “And he’s not in one of his usual spots and Master
Qui-Gon doesn’t know where he is either.” As he spoke, his voice
turned from that of a young boy to a more serious adult one even if
the squeakiness of youth remained. “Ben has a healer appointment to
go to though and therefor I’m trying to find him since Master
Qui-Gon is already in the Halls.” He gave a frustrated grumble.

Windu, peering down at the blond tried
not to let his unease with how adult the other suddenly spoke, gave a
low hum and a nod. “I see. I imagine he did not bring his comm?”
At the head shake he received, Windu thoughtfully rubbed his chin.
“Did you call his friends?” He murmured.

When Anakin hesitated, Mace smirked and
decided to call Bant Eerin on a hunch.

“Knight Eerin.” Came the prompt
voice.

“Greetings Eerin, this is Master
Windu. I’m sorry to disturb you but its Knight Kenobi with you?”
Mace drawled.

“Huh? Oh yes, he is.” There was
some confusion. “Is something wrong?” She questioned.

“It seems that Knight Kenobi has a
healer appointment and Initiate Skywalker has been looking for him
for quite some time.”

Both heard a loud groan and then a
quick apology before they heard a door open and close quickly.
“…Well Master, he’s on his way to the Halls now.” Came the
strongly amused voice.

Anakin bowed to Mace and quickly headed
for the Halls too as Mace thanked Bant.

He managed to intercept Ben and grasped
his hand, staring up at him seriously as he walked with the redhead.
“You need to stop hiding your signature.” He scowled up at him.

Sighing quietly, Ben nodded. “I know
but please believe me that I don’t do it on purpose Anakin.” The
knight murmured quietly as he stepped around apprentice healers and
medical droids to get to Healer Colo-ran for his eye checkup.

“I know but this is frankly getting a
bit ridiculous Ben. And dangerous, if we can’t find you…”
Anakin let the words hang before squeezing the others hand. “Please
try harder.” He finally whispered out.

Ben glanced down at him, giving him a
sad smile. “I’ll try… I spent so long hiding Ani, its an
instinct more then anything.”

“I know.” Anakin clung to the
others hand. “I know.”

“I know.” Anakin clung to the
others hand. “I know.”

Huh. After so many years basically alone, would Ben have a habit of talking to himself? It definitely fills the silence, even if it doesn’t take away the loneliness.

Hissing a bit as he forced himself to keep his eyes open, Ben
clenched his hands shut instead into fists as the Healer continued to
drip the cleaning solution into his eyes. But when a large warm hand
wrapped around one of his fists, he latched onto that instead as
fluids started to run out of his eyes from the drip.

“That’s it Ben, just keep your eyes open.” Qui-Gon encouraged,
rubbing his hand with one as Ben clung to it. He glanced at the
healer who continued to carefully drip the solution into Ben’s eyes
to remove the blue coating covering the white of the knight’s eyes.
“They’re getting the gas out, just keep your eyes open.”

Ben grunted. “I know but my eyes sting like there’s bees in
them.” He hissed.

“It will be worse if you blink.” The healer said sharply. “Keep
them open Knight Kenobi or you could go blind. You are lucky you
aren’t blind already from getting Wa-sana gas in them.”

Grunting again and swallowing thickly, Ben started to sing in
huttese, staring right up at the spot of yellow above his head on the
ceiling.

Focusing on that and not blinking, he continued squeezing Qui-Gon’s
hands until the Healer pulled the eye drop solution away. “You can
blink Knight Kenobi.”

Blinking sharply, Ben let out a pained gasp then blinked again.

For every blink he managed, the pain reduced slowly and steadily
until he only felt a faint sense of soreness as he lifted one shaky
hand to dry his face.

Qui-Gon however caught his hand. “No, don’t touch Ben. Healer
Colo-rana?”

The quarren healer quickly got a towel and washed Ben’s face, the
white coming away faintly blue though he now looked a lot more
satisfied as he carefully got all of the liquid off Ben’s face.
“Blink for me?” He requested.

Ben slowly did as told, feeling the healer scan his eyes with the
Force before he stepped back in satisfaction.

“Good. I’ll get you two painkillers, some water and then you’ll
go to your quarters to take a nap. You should be good but if you
notice the soreness becoming more painful, you have to return. Avoid
touching your eyes with your fingers and I advise to take a water
shower now if you feel able to or take one as soon as you feel you
are able.” Colo-rana stepped back to fetch the water and
painkillers, giving Qui-Gon the towel.

Slowly the master helped Ben sit up slowly, gently dabbing at Ben’s
face with a clean part of the towel. “…You know, you talk a lot
to yourself if you think you’re alone.” The master rumbled, just
filling the air with sound. “Or sing.”

Giving a low noise, Ben shrugged. “I was alone for so long. I had
to fill the silence with some noise.” He breathed out a bit. “…
I can’t believe the thugs on Coruscant has Wa-sana gas.”

Shrugging, Qui-Gon settled the towel on the bed with a small smile.
“Surprised me too, thank the Force you didn’t get injured from
it.”

Ben just snorted at that and obediently took the painkiller and water
from the healer, feeling tired and sore.

He just wanted to go to bed for a little while.

Huh. After so many years basically alone, would Ben have a habit of talking to himself? It definitely fills the silence, even if it doesn’t take away the loneliness.

satisfied as he carefully got all of the liquid off Ben’s face.

Is… is that the first hints of Maul/Obi in IamBen? Please don’t tell me if it isn’t, I’m enjoying the thought.

Face turned up to the sun, Ben let out a soft breath of relief as he
felt the rays slowly heat his pale skin with gentle touches compared
to the burning sun of Tatooine that had taken a toll on his aged body
during the long years he had stayed on Tatooine.

Taking a deep breath as the stale wind of Coruscant ruffled his hair,
Ben tilted his head slowly. “What do you want Anakin?” He
murmured softly.

Slowly the child joined him, sitting down on the edge of the roof
sparring arena. For a few minutes he said nothing which caused Ben to
open his eyes and look at him.

“Anakin?” He murmured more softly.

“Is Maul courting you?” Anakin whispered, swinging his legs
slowly back and forth.

Musing over that for a few seconds, Ben finally shook his head. “He
may be interested in me but… too much happened last time for me to
be able to accept him close to me without somehow worrying about him
stabbing me in the back. And that would not be a healthy
relationship.” He sighed softly. “To be honest Anakin, I’m not
sure I’m looking for a relationship at all anymore.” He turned
his head back to looking at Coruscant.

Nodding slowly, Anakin continued to sway his legs back and forth
slowly. “Guess I get what you mean.” He murmured, sounding so
much more mature then his age would allude to.

Ben felt a soft heartache at the loss of such childhood before
quietly reminding himself that while Anakin showed maturity, he
didn’t remember or understand all.

He still had a chance for a childhood.

“He gave you some nice earrings though, that’s why I asked.”
Anakin continued as he peered at one of the comm spires of Coruscant,
watching how the sun glittered off it.

Chuckling, Ben reached up to touch the earrings in his ear. “He
wanted me to have them as added protection. Apparently his mother
enchanted them.” He outright laughed at Anakin’s out at the
mention of Talzin.

After what felt like fifteen minutes, Anakin spoke up again. “You’re
up here a lot.” He mumbled, barely heard over the wind.

Ben hummed, feeling the concerned eyes on the side of his face. “…I
miss the stars. For all of the uncomfortable things of Tatooine…
the stars almost made up for it, up here I can almost see them again
when I’m on Coruscant.” He looked back at Anakin to see the
understanding gaze.

The two shared a knowing smile before focusing back on the slowly
setting horizon.

They both knew what future was coming, both knew the darkness that
laid in that direction though Ben was trying his best to prepare the
Jedi Order for it.

This was just dawn before the darkness, just a few more years of
light before everything was going to fade into darkness.

Ben let out a shaky breath, sending a prayer off into the Force that
he was doing enough.

Please let it be enough this time.

Carrying the galaxy on his shoulders before had been hard enough.

Obi-Wan had died on a fiery bank on Mustafar when Anakin had turned
into Darth Vader.

Anakin might be back… but Obi-Wan was still dead… only Ben
remained.

The hermit of the wasteland who had a new chance.

Perhaps he could finally be happy?
