in bymastersside how does mace try to woo obi? is yoda a horrible meddler?

Taking a deep
breath, Obi-Wan looked between the healers as they looked over the
readout of the brace he was now wearing. “I seem to be breathing
fine.” Obi-Wan offered warily from where he stood in his boxers
between the rails he was leaning on, glancing at one of the straps of
the brace that went beneath his arm to fasten it to his body.

The gray brace
covered his upper back, giving him support until it cut off at the
mid of his back into what looked like gray thin stripe of fabric that
traced the spine and continued down to the tailbone where it split
into two even thinner ‘fabric’ lines that lined down on each side
of his hip down his legs to his knees.

These were
neurotech that was providing internal support for the damaged tissue
inside and maybe, just maybe they could aid Obi-Wan into walking and
even running now that he was healed enough from the initial damage.

“Yes, that is
what we are registering.” Terza said calmly. “How is it working
with your legs and spine though?” She asked.

Giving her a tense
smile, Obi-Wan shrugged. “No time like the present to figure it
out.” He offered up and let go of the rails he had been using as
support.

Anakin, who had
been watching quietly until then, sat up sharply and looked ready to
spring from his seat to catch Obi-Wan should the other fall without
the support of rails or his cane.

Taking a slow but
full step, Obi-Wan held his breath.

But his legs still
carried him, he was standing securely between the rails without their
support.

He took another and
then several more until he got to the end of the rails but by then
his legs were shaking from the strain and he quickly grabbed them
while breathing hard, feeling exhausted but elated.

It was working.

He could walk
without the cane though it would take time for him to manage longer
periods without his cane but Obi-Wan could actually manage to walk
with the brace!

He looked up even
as Terza and the farghul healer spoke hurriedly about the resulted in
excited tones, meeting Anakin’s wide blue eyes. “Well, that’s a
start.” He panted happily.

A grin growing on
his face, Anakin approached. “It is. That’s wizard master.” He
agreed, resting a hand on Obi-Wan’s bare arm carefully. “Maybe
once you worn it for a few days I could modify it a bit? Its a bit…
bland. Maybe paint some designs on the brace?” Anakin said quietly.

Normally Obi-Wan
would say no to it but…

Well he knew how
bad Anakin felt about the entire thing and the blond just wanted to
do something nice for Obi-Wan.

So with a small
smile, he gave a nod. “That would be nice Anakin, we can talk about
it later once we’re sure this brace is mine to keep.” Obi-Wan
said softly, watching how the blue eyes perked up at the acceptance.

All four of them
jumped a bit when the door slid open however though Obi-Wan relaxed
when he saw Mace there.

“Apologies for
interrupting.” The Korun rumbled, rubbing the back of his neck a
bit. “Master Yoda was looking for Healer Terza and would not take
no for an answ-” His eyes landed on Obi-Wan, filling with surprise.
“Obi-Wan, you’re standing on your own!” Mace exclaimed as he
stepped into the room.

Smiling shyly,
Obi-Wan nodded even as he grasped onto one of the rails for support.
“Yes. Healer Terza and Standa thought that maybe a neuro-brace
might help me stimulate the nerves and improve my ability to walk.
And they were right. I may even be able to run eventually if this
continues though I will be grateful to settle for walking.” He
laughed lowly.

Mace nodded,
smiling a bit before gesturing to Obi-Wan’s face. “I see you got
my gift too.” He murmured more quietly.

Smiling more
genuinely in return, Obi-Wan lifted a hand to his face, touching the
embroidered leather strap covering his empty right eye socket. “Yes,
the eyepatch was delivered today and… well thank you, its very
pretty.” He murmured softly.

And the eyepatch
was indeed very pretty, in a dark red leather with silver stars
stitched onto it varying sizes, the biggest one in the middle.

Rolling his eyes,
Anakin watched his master and Windu flirt, wondering how in the Force
life had come to this. ‘Well, at least its easier to watch those
two flirt then it is to constantly try and amuse Obi-Wan.’ He
sighed.

Aaahh omg that update of the obiwan with the plague was sooo good!! I gotta know what’s next does anakin give obiwan the technology to walk or does he like obiwan defenceless? And what’s palpatines next move??

“Easy does it.”
Anakin slid his arms beneath Obi-Wan’s knees and lower back,
lifting him steadily until the former Jedi rested in his arms. “Just
a few steps Obi-Wan.” He hummed, turning to the around and moving
to the hoverchair, placing the other down in it with care.

“You don’t
have to sooth me, I’m not a startled horse or taun-taun Anakin.”
Obi-Wan scowled at him.

“No but I don’t
want to upset you more then I need to. I know you’re frustrated
about your legs.” The blond hummed before brushing the others hair
back from his face, fingertips lingering on warm skin for a few
seconds before kneeling down to settle the thin legs on the rests of
the chair. “I don’t want to make it worse.”

The former Jedi
looked away, face twisting a bit before he sighed. “I…apologize.
I…”

“You’re
frustrated, its alright.” It was almost amusing to the Sith, to see
how unbalanced the lack of mobility had made Obi-Wan.

Almost.

For the most part
he was worried.

He gave the others
stubbled cheek a light brush with his hand again before getting up
and gesturing. “Want to try and control the hoverchair yourself? We
can go fetch the twins.”  Easy task since the twins room was just
down two doors.

It had been
Padme’s work room once.

Anakin had with
great reluctance slowly cleaned out of it and made it into the twins
room, recognizing the need for them to have their own spot and not
rest in the master bedroom.

Thin hands settled
on the controls and slowly directed the chair, Anakin keeping step
with him when he could, watching closely that Obi-Wan was managing
and the hoverchair wouldn’t suddenly ram into the wall or
something.

But the other
managed well and they were soon at the twins rooms.

“Oh, they’ve
gotten big.” Obi-Wan marveled in surprise, watching Anakin lift
first Leia out of the crib and settle her in Obi-Wan’s lap before
picking up Luke.

Leia gave a
delighted giggle and cuddled against Obi-Wan, beaming at him as she
on some level recognized Obi-Wan.

It made Obi-Wan
smile in return, cuddling her against him with thin arms wrapping
around her.

“…You’re
calm about all of this, more calm then I thought you’d be.” The
blond mused, looking down at his former Master with a small frown
crossing his face as Obi-Wan nuzzled Leia gently and with loving
care.

That part appealed
to Anakin, his masters obvious and utter devotion to the twins. After
all, they were all his and they should care for each other. But
Obi-Wan’s utter calm was a bit perplexing.

Obi-Wan mutely
glanced up at him then back at Leia, tucking her close. “…When I
got the bulb plague, I started to make my peace. I knew I was going
to die, I knew it wouldn’t take long since I had no access to
treatment, so I…started to make peace with all that had gone
wrong.”

He settled her on
his lap, the two year old peering between them curiously.

“The people who
died, the mistakes I made, your Fall, Palpatine’s rise…the death
of so many troopers under my command. Padme…” Obi-Wan looked
away. “I made peace with it all. I did not expect a year or two, so
I sat and meditated until I accepted everything.”

Anakin shifted
Luke in his arms, frowning down at him but something told him to wait
and listen.

“Now I
just…this is life. I just need to accept that I am here. That my
legs no longer work. To be honest my prospects are better then during
the clone war.” He laughed bleakly before smiling when Leia
squeezed his hand. “And I’m here with them. I didn’t want to be
alone but I thought… protecting them was more important then any
loneliness I would experience.” Obi-Wan tickled Leia, smiling
slightly when she giggled and pushed his hand away.

“…You’re
really fine?” Anakin felt his eyebrows raise to his hairline, a mix
of concern and amusement filling his veins.

“I’m so far
from fine that I think my mind is going over. But…I’ll figure it
out.” He looked up at Anakin and gave him a small, soft smile with
his dimples showing without the beard. “Priorities change when
you’re going to die and have time to think about it, that’s all.”

“…Lunch.”
Anakin murmured, twinges going of in his chest. “We need to get you
feed and start getting you back in health.”

Obi-Wan lifted a
hand and eyed the thin wrist before nodding, shifting Leia on his lap
to keep one arm around her before settling his hand on the hoverchair
controller.

Unable to resist
and not finding a reason to, Anakin rested his hand on Obi-Wan’s
shoulder as they moved to the kitchen, his other holding Luke to him
on his hip.

His family.

A bit broken, a
bit tainted but his all the same with nothing and no one to judge him
for wanting it. He’d guard this with his life.

His eyes flashed
yellow. ‘Mine.’ He glanced down at Luke who had his first in his
mouth, watching Obi-Wan shyly from his fathers hip. ‘All of them.’
