First I’m glad to hear you are doing well after your surgery, second can we have more of people realizing Palpatine does creepy shit. A lot.

Obi-Wan shifted
his body subtle, sliding himself enough to block Anakin from view
with his decidedly bigger bulk. ‘If he doesn’t stop looking at
Anakin like that, I will throw him out a window.’ The young knight
thought.

There were a lot
of things he didn’t associate himself with.

Vicious was one of
them.

But if Palpatine
didn’t turn his eyes elsewhere, he would become it.

Master, I’m
alright.
’ Anakin offered
through their bond.

To be honest he didn’t mind the attention so much, Obi-Wan was
actually worried about him, worried for Anakin, caring, nice and…

He shouldn’t be looking at you like that Anakin. Its… its
not right. You’re twelve. He has no right to look at you like
that.
’ Obi-Wan voice came quickly back even as he bowed for the
Chancellor. Yet he kept his chin raised, kept his eyes on the
Chancellor, kept him under watch.

“Did you see the knight?”

“Yes, he never took his eyes of the Chancellor. I’d even say he
was glaring at some points.”

“I’ve heard its because of the Chancellors unnatural interest in
his ward?”

“Who, the young blond?”

“The knights padawan. He’s very protective of him I’ve heard.”

“Good lord, if the Chancellors interest indicates anything he’s
right to be on guard. That boy can’t be more then what, eleven?”

“Twelve but still.”

The whispers traveled through the Senate within hours of the meeting
between the Jedi Knight and Chancellor.

Outrage and mingled horror mingled disgust rising among several
Senators as they wondered just what kind of man they had elected into
office and how to best and quickest to remove him with someone more
suitable.

Someone like Mon Mothma.

In his room in the Jedi temple, Mace could feel several shatterpoints
break apart and dissolve, the Force suddenly growing bright as he
eased out of his meditation in surprise.

And at Dex diner, Obi-Wan watched Anakin with a small fond smile as
the blond chowed down on what was his fourth helping of Dex special
blue milk ice cream. “Honestly Anakin…”

The blond just shot him a wide grin and happily stuffed another
spoonful in his mouth. “I did offer to share.”

“I can’t eat that much milk.” Obi-Wan countered with a laugh so
the other knew he wasn’t serious.

In another world the Jedi might have allowed the Chancellors interest
in a much to young padawan continue. In another world that interest
may have cultivated into everyone’s damnation.

In this world the Senate was in uproar over the Chancellor’s
interest in a minor.

In this world Obi-Wan Kenobi wrapped his robe tightly around his too
young padawan’s shoulders and kept him shielded from sight.

In this world the Council took a good and long look at who they
allowed to be around the minors of their Order.

In this world…Anakin Skywalker grew into a Jedi Master, ready to
reform the order with his former Master’s full support.

It was time for the Jedi Order to step into a new age and open its
doors to the people it served and not the Senate it had so long been
ordered about by.

May I request some Sheev and Son to pick up the broken pieces of my heart after reading natural wings.

Staring
at his hands with deadened eyes, Anakin tried to wrap his head around the
fact that his mother was gone.

Dead.

Her
ashes cremated.

Spread
in a gorgeous clearing, lush and green and everything Tatooine had
never been.

It
had been quick the medic had confirmed.

One
of seven who died in a sudden plague outbreak that the medics hadn’t
been quick enough to contain and cure.

Random.

Wasteful.

One
bright life snuffed out so quickly.

And
yet the galaxy continued to spin on as if nothing had happened.

As if one of the best of it hadn’t
left.

There was a soft swish and Anakin
raised his head to stare at the open door, Obi-Wan framed in the
light of the ships hallway.

“…Oh Anakin.” The other stared at
him but didn’t move, didn’t want to intrude if the other wanted solitude.

Anakin didn’t verbally respond but
lifted a hand towards him, watching the other hesitate before his
Master stepped into the room and let the door shut, taking the blonds
hand to be pulled down beside him on the bed bunk.

Staring at each other, Anakin finally
found the words and the tears he hadn’t found before. “Please
don’t leave me Obi-Wan. Please don’t leave me too.” He
whispered out.

Obi-Wan blinked before he reached out
and pulled the other forward until he could tuck the other beneath
his chin, his arms tight and his palms resting on the others back. “I
won’t, I won’t leave you Anakin.”

The blond shifted and pulled Obi-Wan
down until they were resting temple to temple, his lips millimeters
from Obi-Wan’s ear.

You will not take this one,
sisters of the dark, for this one is mine. Take not what belongs to
me for I will not survive to the sisters of light if you do. This one
belongs to me and not to you.
The master’s whip shall pass
my back before theirs, my last drop of water belongs to them along
with my last bread. Do not take them sisters of the dark…for this
one is mine.
” He
whispered, Obi-Wan faintly recognizing the words as Tatooine’s
slave language.

He hadn’t heard that since the first
weeks of being Anakin’s master and shivered slightly at the
heaviness they left in the air.

“What…what was that Anakin?”

“…An old slave prayer. I just…”
Anakin swallowed and fisted his hands into the back of the others
tunic.

“Shh no its okay.” Obi-Wan shifted
his hands to rub the others scalp slowly, making a low soothing
noise. “Its okay, its okay I’m right here.”

He wasn’t sure how long they sat
there before Anakin pulled back, drying his face with his sleeve as
he rested one hand on Obi-Wan’s arm as if he needed the touch to
remind himself that the other was still there.

Hesitating a bit before he reached out
to stroke the tears from the others tanned cheeks, Obi-Wan gave him a
sad smile. “Your mother was a great person. I’m sorry she’s
gone Anakin.”

Anakin swallowed
before smiling piteously at his Master. “Thank you
Obi-Wan…I…would it be alright if I stayed here for a bit longer?”

“Take all the
time you need.” Obi-Wan took both of the others hands in his and
squeezed them. “I’ll go speak to Sheev, thank him for asking us
to escort him to Naboo for this. You just stay here…I’ll bring
your meal to you.” He stood and leaned in, pressing a kiss to the
others forehead before letting go, slipping out the door.

Anakin watched the
door for a few moments before curling up in the bunk, pressing his
arms against legs up against his chest and his arms around his legs
to make himself as small as possible.

“Ah, Obi-Wan.”
Sheev sat up in his chair, watching his son slowly make his way to
the table and sit down. “How is the boy?”

“He’s…not
really a boy anymore but…grieving.” Obi-Wan sighed and accepted
the cup of juice that was slid his side from Sheev. He played with
the glass for a bit before taking a small sip. “I never meet his
mother…got a call from her once…she was nice.” He whispered.

“And those who
made friends with her will miss her. Anakin will need you during his
time of pain.”  Sheev smiled gently at him. “You can be the one
he needs now.”

“…I think he’s
crushing on me.” Obi-Wan whispered.

“Yes you
mentioned that.” Sheev hummed.

“Its…not wise
to get closer to him.” Obi-Wan swallowed.

“Is not
compassion something Jedi pride themselves over? Love is included in
that. And Anakin is hardly a boy as you yourself said.”

Obi-Wan stared at
his glass. “…Love can lead to…”

“My boy…there
is no harm in feeling love.”

Obi-Wan pressed
his lips together. Was it so wrong if he fell in love?

He had loved
before, nothing had come of them but…

Anakin was a Jedi.

If he fell in love
with Anakin…

“He’s still my
padawan.” He whispered, uncertainty in his voice.

“He won’t be
forever. But for now, perhaps all he needs is a friend that can help
him through his grief.”

“Perhaps.”
Obi-Wan whispered.

‘And so the
seeds are sown.’ Sheev took a slow sip of his own juice.
