While visiting the Emperor, Vader sensed a plot to kill Palpatine with a bomb installed in his chair. In typical Vader fashion, his solution was to use the Force to throw the Emperor out of the chair like a ragdoll, then launch the chair out of the window. With Palpatine safe, Vader went off on the Royal Guard, killing the two who had been in the room with the Emperor, and two more who refused to bow and repent after his indictment of their abilities.
