Moddy, in AWOLJedi do Cody and Obi-Wan ever talk about their feelings? Or does Rex say something to Anakin about his?

Following behind the taller blond, Rex glanced around the hall, taking in the decorations on the walls of the dormitory hall. These particular halls had decorations along the walls, tiles making a mosaic of patterns that were broken up by doors with plaques containing names of the owners.

There were several containing troopers and they always made Rex smile a bit, glancing at his Jedi’s back before going back to looking around.

“Here we are, Obi-Wan and Cody’s place.” Anakin stopped, smiling happily, setting his hand to the keypad.

“Are you sure we should just barge in?” Rex murmured, hands in his pockets. “What if they’re busy?”

Anakin just laughed at that. “I bet they’re just napping, Obi-Wan stayed up all night with the kids, much like I did.” He grinned warmly over his shoulder, waving Rex concerns away.

‘Honestly, you should be sleeping too.’ Rex thought, rolling his eyes fondly as he stepped in after the other.

Only to crash into his back with a surprised yelp.

Furthermore, his wasn’t the only yelp and Rex quickly poked his head around Anakin to blink into the room, finding… oh karking hell.

“Why Kote! I thought you were playing chicken!” He wolf whistled, laughing at his vod as the other glared at the two, flushed from where he had dragged a blanket around his and Obi-Wan’s lower halves on the couch as he was clearly resting between the Jedi’s legs.

Their clothes had been scattered around the room, a trail towards the couch and Obi-Wan had covered his face, letting out tiny noises that Rex could only call whimpers with his own blush going down his face, his collarbone and down his chest amazingly enough.

“Get out you two!” Cody hissed, his ears bright red as he tugged the blanket more up.

Anakin let out a spluttering noise. “Obi-Wan!” He gasped in outrage and Rex decided to be a good brother for once as he gave Cody a salute and then grabbed his fellow blond to drag him out of the rooms, still laughing.

Thankfully, Anakin didn’t put up much of a fight, let Rex drag him out even as he let out more spluttered, questioning noises.

Getting one last look at his vod and the General before the door shut, Rex couldn’t help but snigger at how red both of them were. Then he tugged his own General after him, keeping a hold of Anakin’s hand. “Well, at least we know where they are.” He stated a tad cheerfully.

Anakin let out an outraged squawk at that. “I walked in on my master kriffing!” He gasped and Rex glanced up at the other, snorting at the sight of a blush climbing high on his cheeks, the tips of his ears red where they stuck out from under his curls.

“I’ve walked in on so many vode at this point that I no longer have any embarrassment out of it, must be refreshing.” He teased gently, smirking slightly as he noticed the rumor mill moving.

By that he meant he could see the knights freeze at the end of the hall as Anakin had been anything but quiet, the first grabbing the second and hurrying right back out.

It would be all over the temple and the vode by the end of the day he bet.

Hearing Anakin go quieter, falling more into step with Rex, he glanced back up at the other and smirked lightly. “You didn’t think your master was an old maid now, did you?” He teased gently.

That got a loud snort out of Anakin, still a bit flushed, as he peered back at Rex. “If you think this is the first time I walked in on my master, you’re dead wrong. I just didn’t expect it here. I knew Cody was chasing his tail.” He grumbled a tad about dense masters.

Letting out a thoughtful hum, Rex frowned. “You walked in on h-”
“With Quinlan Vos, on the kitchen table of our first quarters.” Rex looked up at the other flat words, blinking heavily.

“…He could do better.” Quinlan wasn’t a bad sort, but Rex had seen how the others destructive habits feed into Obi-Wan’s own destructive habits. So, yes, he could do better, someone who didn’t feed into the habits.

That gained Rex a loud laugh and a happy nod as they continued towards the hoverlift, knowing better than to head back to Obi-Wan and Cody’s quarters for a long, long while.

Hi, Moddy! Awol Jedi…how does Cody react to seeing the decanted baby Obi-Wan clones?

Being told they were out and actually seeing them is wholly different and Cody can’t stop staring at the little cribs of sleeping babies.

He’s seen it before and yet somehow he feels like he’s never seen it at the same time.

He’s seen vode decanted before, has actually helped when one tube had an emergency fault and the shiny came out earlier than it should have but still ‘viable’ as the longnecks had said. He never found out what happened to that particular vode, if they survived, if they grew up, if they became another trooper.

But somehow… somehow its different, when the little heads contain fuzzy red hairs.

Somehow, seeing their tiny little hands are different when its Obi-Wan’s clones and Cody doesn’t know why.

Just that it is.

Five little heads, four pairs of green eyes with the last one having blue eyes and Cody can’t stop staring at them, his hand pressed to the glass keeping the rest of the temple from the little cadets.

The Jedi had set up this place for the troopers decanted vode to begin with, something about keeping the babies safe from the environment and immunity.

The troopers didn’t have the heart to tell their Jedi that they had stronger immunity from the get go, engineered by the longnecks and had been more flattered by the amount of care the Jedi were showing their youngest.

Now there’s little clone Jedi in there too and Cody knows he’s not the only one that’s come by to see the little Skywalker, Kenobi and Yoda clones.

He knows the others will come to see the Secura clones once they come too, knows the entire 327th will come to see them along with curious Jedi and other curious vode.

But Cody had been shyly invited.

Obi-Wan had arrived at their quarters, startling a barely awake Cody as he had thought the man still asleep in the temp quarters he had to move into for a week. Obi-Wan’s room had a leak spring into it, so it had required some repairs to ensure it was still a viable living space, the sealant needed time to harden without someone walking over it.

Two days after the first leak, Cody and the guest bedroom had also sprung leaks, informing the repair team that it was under the entire floor in that section and they had gotten to work with Cody too now relegated to a temporary bedroom.

Thankfully, their living quarter and kitchen was fine, the water line went under their bedrooms and the neighboring quarters, but Master Windu had been unfortunate enough that it was his entire quarters instead of just the bedrooms.

Cody had thought he’d be nice, since Obi-Wan had yet to wake up and arrive, usually the first of the two, had started on breakfast for the two and was halfway into the pancake batter thinking Obi-Wan was asleep.

Instead of sleeping though, Obi-Wan had apparently been awake all night and looked it too when he suddenly slammed into the quarters, frazzled and disheveled but before Cody could make more than a concerned noise, Obi-Wan had grabbed Cody’s hand and pulled him along, eyes wide.

“The babies are decanted.”

The sentence had Cody silenced and following, suddenly nervous and eager and now fully awake for sure, despite not having his caff.

That was it, he’d been there ever since.

It might have been a minute, an hour, a karking day but Cody couldn’t bring himself from moving, could simply stand there, staring at the little heads. Only when a warm hand wraps around the one hanging limp at his side does Cody manage to force his eyes away, turning his head to meet Obi-Wan’s hesitant, shy smile.

Without words, he laces their fingers and holds on tightly, wondering if all the hints he had carefully been dropping had finally gotten through, wondering if Obi-Wan had finally realized that Cody had been following all those little courting traditions Jedi seemed to have.

He didn’t ask, instead he simply squeezed Obi-Wan’s hand with his, watching as Obi-Wan shifted closer, leaned his head on Cody’s shoulder and went back to watching the little redheads.

Slowly, Cody turned his head back, wondering… well… what if one of those little redhead’s had amber eyes… would that be so bad?

‘…No, I don’t think that would be so bad,’ He thought airily, feeling like he could take on Grievous alone if the bastard cyborg suddenly rose from the dead again. ‘Not bad at all.’

awolJedi is the clone babies going to come out of the pods soon? It sounded like they were soon ready

Sitting up sharply in bed, Obi-Wan stared blankly at the wall for several seconds before throwing the covers of himself and sliding his feet into his slippers, hurrying out of his temporary bedroom by touch alone.

In the darkness, he fumbled for his robe on the hook by the doorway, throwing it on as he made his way through the halls.

On the way, an anxious Anakin appeared from his temporary room, looking just as sleep disheveled as Obi-Wan felt, the blond looking at him with wide eyes as he scratched nervously at his bare stomach.

The other had clearly not thought to throw on a robe like Obi-Wan had but had at least put on slippers and together, the two made their way to the Halls of healing, the insistent tugging of the Force pulling them along.

The Halls, due to the likelihood of injuries being high during the initial construction, had been one of the first places on the schedule to be built of the temple, along with temporary shelters, the creche, kitchens and of course the archives.

The temporary shelters, creche and halls had been the highest priority though and still bore signs of a rush job that Obi-Wan knew that would be worked on better now that things were settling.

But that was not why he and Anakin were in the Halls.

Because they could feel them, a tugging in their very souls and likely something the kaminoans had thought of when they cloned the Jedi.

The children were ready.

The clones of him and Anakin.

And Yoda, as when they arrived, the old man was already there, leaning on his cane as he stared into the Halls with an unfamiliar senior healer at his side and Master Che. When Anakin and he arrived, all three gave them looks of realization before Che started barking more orders. “All three of yours in the same night?” She finally turned back to them, cursing slightly. “This wasn’t going to be easy just with one of you.” She complained, huffing loudly before sighing and gesturing to her side for the unfamiliar healer at her side, causing the yellow zabrak to step forward.

“I’m healer Zora, they and them,” The zabrak smiled at them before lifting a pad to show them the readouts of the clones pods. “I’ve been in charge of the tubes for a while now, researching them and ensuring things proceed as they should. They’re all healthy,” They reassured at Anakin’s face turning slightly alarmed. “We just don’t… we’re not certain what to expect, with the children all being Force sensitive. Cloned Force sensitive are… difficult.” They finished with.

Now that, was an understatement if Obi-Wan knew something.

Scientists, both scrupulous and unscrupulous, had for decades tried to figure out Force sensitivity, simply cloning a Force sensitive didn’t always track and some of the experiments he knew had happened had actually leveled entire research facilities.

Maybe that’s why the Force has them there, maybe the clones know them in some way. Because as the tubes get drained, the babies in them simply squirm and wiggle, cry out with strong lungs that makes Obi-Wan’s breath hitch in return, Anakin shift forward and Yoda straighten from where he’s leaning on his cane.

Carefully, each of the bright little lights are placed into the arm of a waiting padawan healer, carefully cleaned and swaddled and when there aren’t enough, Obi-Wan steps forward and takes one of the babies that has been made of him, blinking down at eyes as green as his own.

“…Hello there, welcome to the galaxy little one.” He whispered, smiling slightly as the child squirmed in his arms.

For a moment, he couldn’t help but wonder how he’d feel if this baby had darker skin and green eyes, for a moment he wondered how Cody would have felt to be here with him.

Then he put that thought aside, grateful his beard hid the evidence of his blush as he moved to hand the child over to healer Zora for a weighing and measuring, the baby whimpering at the loss of Obi-Wan’s body warmth.

I was wondering about AWOL Jedi and if there will be any AniRex.

Stroking the blond curls slowly, Rex wondered if he had ever felt happier than in this very moment, a sleeping Anakin with his head in Rex lap, still on the couch of the 501st’s break house with everyone having skedaddled… somewhere.

Rex wasn’t sure where.

He just knew that they had promised to look after the twins, enthusiastically telling Anakin that the twins deserved some ‘uncle and auntie’ time before disappearing with the baby bags of items for the kids, leaving Rex and Anakin.

Initially nervous, clearly a tad overwhelmed despite leaving the twins with others before, Anakin had stared at the door they had disappeared at for a while before Rex had gently drawn the other into a conversation about speeders.

Easiest way to distract Anakin Skywalker?

Talk about tech.

Seeing as at the current moment they were having a minor issue of there not being enough speeders, it had been the right choice as Anakin was enthusiastically telling Rex all about the speeders and motors he was currently fixing.

The Jedi council had managed to find the other a job he would like, mechanic, as Anakin didn’t have an interest in rejoining the Jedi order seemingly, Ahsoka certainly did not, she spent her time generally helping out. But maybe Anakin had already joined?

Just not as a Jedi Knight?

Rex wasn’t sure and he hadn’t had time to ask before Anakin had winded down, becoming tired. Noticing, Rex had guided the other to his lap and told him to rest with a quiet voice despite Anakin apologizing.

Babies were demanding, being a single parent, even with so many people willing to babysit and help, was exhausting and Anakin deserved the rest.

Stars, he had missed his General and sitting here, playing with the man’s hair as he slept was soothing.

Seeing him safe, seemingly content and here, with them.

Though it hurt to consider just how lonely the other must have been on Coruscant. But there was nothing Rex could have done about that or about his General.

Honestly, he was rather sure that back then, had they approached Anakin, he would have blown the plan wide open and informed the Senate in a fit of thoughtlessness. He adored his General, loved him but… Anakin could sometimes be too impulsive.

It could be a boon on the battlefield, against droids that adapted to tactics and battles, it kept them from realizing what was going on and giving the GAR the upperhand. But in normal life… well, sometimes not so good.

Now they didn’t have to think of that, now Anakin was here and… single.

Rex flushed at the thought, looking away as he swallowed thickly.

Kark, just because the other was single didn’t mean he had any interest in males and certainly didn’t mean any interest in Rex.

‘Its enough to just be his friend, enough to be there for him, to hear his voice, to know he’s here… I won’t ask for more. I don’t want to loose what we have.’ Rex thought shakily. He could love the other without that kind of relationship.

As long as Anakin and his kids were happy… that was all Rex needed, to see the other blond smile.

The thought had his lips twitching, a slightly wry smile coming to life. ‘When did I get that sappy?’ He couldn’t help but wonder as he looked back down at Anakin, stroking a fingertip gently along the other’s jaw. ‘How are you able to make me turn so sappy?’ Rex thought was exasperated and yet… also fond.

Settling in, Rex simply watched Anakin sleep, content in the moment with what he had and the life he was trying to build.

Could we see more AWOL Jedi please? Maybe Anakin reconnecting with his men / Rex, and them realizing how lonely / how bad things became on Coruscant. Thank you for sharing so many wonderful stories with us! 💜

Nodding his thanks to Jinx as the vod put down a basket of fruit, Rex turned his eyes to Anakin, frowning slightly at a sudden thought that hit him. “I’m rather surprised that Senator Amidala hasn’t kicked up a bigger fuss about her kids being here.” Rex stated thoughtfully as he watched Anakin finish of the last of his water.

It had been the topic of some late bunk conversations for a few days actually and Rex knew, coming over a few gossip circles, that the Jedi too were a bit bemused by it. Everyone knew Senator Amidala after all, she was a determined and powerful woman, one you didn’t easily dismiss.

Rex had a lot of respect for her, she had always been a voice for good.

His words quieted some of the conversation of the other 501st in the house, his voice carrying enough.

Anakin however didn’t seem to realize, he only let out a bitter snort. “Maybe she would have, if she had a leg to stand on.” He stated wryly, kicking his legs out in front of him and setting his empty glass down on the caff table.

When their former Jedi had come to visit the 501st in their… well, Rex wasn’t sure what to call it but every battalion had their own headquarters or barracks so to speak now. It was generally a house, a few floors depending on how big the battalion was, a place to stretch their legs, talk, do their hobbies and have fun.

Technically a ‘break room’ situation so to speak, only it was a house instead, with rooms dedicated to rest, eating if they wanted and didn’t go to the larger cantinas to eat with other battalions or Jedi, hobby rooms and so on.

Often though, others visited them at the headquarters, trading food stuffs and so on.

It was nice, a place for the battalions to stretch their wings so to say, their own space for… well, whatever they wanted, just like the homes they had.

Anakin was the first Jedi, because he’d always be a Jedi to them, to visit the 501st and Rex couldn’t help a proud kernel in his stomach at the admiring look their Jedi threw around the first break room that meet them, filled with couches, caff table, a few fridges and lots of beanbags.

He had been even more impressed with the selection of drinks and snack foods he had been offered.

Now though, Rex regretted not offering the other something stronger as the blond gave his glass a bitter look. “…What do you mean sir?” Rex ventured carefully.

When the other just mutely stared at the glass, Rex shifted of the couch and moved around the table to sit down with Anakin instead, peering at the other man with a small frown on his face. “…Told you to call me Anakin… quite a few times actually.” He finally sighed, glancing at Rex.

Peering back steadily, Rex reached out slowly at Anakin’s slumped shape, settling his hand on the others shoulder. “Then… what did you mean Anakin?” He prompted carefully.

Settling back against the couch, Anakin tilted his head to peer up at the ceiling. “…When the Jedi left Coruscant…” He started slowly, frowning as if in pain. “I figured out just what was most important to Padme… and it wasn’t me or the kids…” He answered lowly, hands clenched into the fabric of his pants.

Slowly, with careful prompting, Rex got the story out of Anakin.

The days of isolation, of the Senator disappearing to the Senate for so long that not even Anakin saw her for days, of only the staff being around, of Anakin discovering that without the Jedi around, he was isolated to only his wife and the few friends he had managed to make among her fellow Senators.

Even then, that weren’t many, due to how Anakin had no interest for politics for one and due to the difference in life.

Anakin had been a slave and then he was a Jedi and a soldier, his life wasn’t pampered like many Senators. His life had been brutal, steady and hard, which made it difficult for him to connect to people like the soft handed senators with only a few exceptions.

It stunned Rex to the core, to realize that after they left, Anakin had been virtually friendless and he couldn’t help but reach out and pull his Jedi into a hug, clinging to the man, realizing that just like the 501st had missed Anakin… Anakin had missed them just as much.

Long arms wrapped around him in turn, the grip tight, as if Anakin couldn’t get enough of the hug and was terrified Rex was going to pull away.

He wouldn’t and Rex simply pressed his hand to the others back. “Its alright. You’re here now. We’re here. You can’t get rid of us that easily.” He whispered, looking up to find Echo and Jesse standing at their side, their hands joining Rex on Anakin’s back to gently rub, faces drawn in worry.

Their Jedi let out a soft, hiccuping noise and simply buried his head in Rex shoulder, hands fisting the back of his shirt.

“You can’t get rid of us.” Rex repeated quietly into curly blond hairs.

In AWOL Jedi, what’s going on with Fox and the Guard? Are they staying permanently or just waiting until things settle down before they nope on out of there?

Breathing out a sigh of contentment as he stared up into the blue sky, Cody couldn’t think of any place he’d want to be at that moment.

Laying shirtless on the grass in the sun, his arms tucked beneath his head as the warmth of the climate washed over him. It was the 212th week off from work, to rest and decompress from building and rotating another battalion over onto their work.

Around him, others had taken the same opportunity for some sunbathing, most troopers enjoying sprawling in the sun due to the lack of it on Kamino.

Kamino was generally always wet and cold, the sun only occasionally peeking out from the stormy sky and to be able to enjoy it on Vercopa.

Well, at least on the southern hemisphere, where the temple and their capital city was built.

The northern part was colder and so was the eastern, while west apparently had desert climate.

Cody had only been to the east and south, so he could only rely on the reports from the other towns about how it was there.

To be honest, Cody preferred staying in the south, near the Jedi temple.

Near Obi-Wan.

Talking about Obi-Wan…

Cody lifted his head a tad, looking around, relaxing when he found the Jedi sitting under in the shade of a tree with Helix, reading a novel.

They had, gently, bullied their Jedi to put on sunscreen and join them in their little trip out of the city to a grassy area, though it hadn’t really taken much coaxing to convince Obi-Wan to join them for the break. And Helix enjoyed keeping an eye on their Jedi, especially after the Coruscant visit, since Obi-Wan contracted some lung strain due to his weakened immune system.

All in all, it was a very nice sight.

“Fox is pissy.” A warm voice came from his left, Cody dropping his head back into his head to look, smirking at Rex as the man came over to sit down.

Apparently it was the 501st week break too, if Rex was here instead of working on the vegetable patches they had been assigned this month. “Oh?” Cody raised a brow, quietly wondering what the 501st month task would be.

He knew the 212th were going to be working on the hot spring that was going to be set up near the Jedi temple.

Actually, maybe the 501st would be working on the other hot spring in the city?

He knew there were plants for two.

Humming, fiddling with some grass, Rex nodded. “He’s so done dealing with the Senate. The longnecks apparently tried to get us back as ‘products’,” Rex snorted. “Until Organa pointed out that the vode were put under the purview of the Jedi by the Senate and therefore they had the right to remove us from Kamino.” He smirked at Cody.

Cody grimaced a tad, grateful for Organa’s intervention but the reminder that to many, they were simply ‘products’… well, it was never a comforting sensation.

“I think he’s jealous that he can’t just leave Coruscant.” He laughed.

Snorting, Cody could understand that, having to deal with all the Senate assholes and those that were against clones.

The Jedi had sent in a warning that the troopers would be leaving Coruscant to the Senate though, they had two months to find replacements for the guards. After all, the clones were under the Order’s purview, given to the Order by the very Senate.

It was delightful how that decision had come back to bite not only the Senate but also the longnecks in the arse.

Fair to Fox, having to stay there with those fatcats would be annoying, particularly the arrogant would be difficult, so Fox’s mood was understandable. “Can’t say I don’t get it, I’d be pissy too if it was me,” He smirked at the man, watching Rex lay down beside him on the grass. “…Where is Skywalker?” Cody couldn’t help but ask.

Ever since he had joined them, Rex rarely let Anakin out of his sight.

“Wanted to spend some quality time with Ahsoka and the twins,” Rex shrugged. “…Jesse is keeping an eye with them.” He admitted, smirking slightly at Cody’s raised brow.

Snorting, Cody nodded with understanding.

No trooper liked leaving their Jedi fully alone, there was always someone from the old GAR battalion with them, be it the commanders, a medic or one of the higher ranking troopers.

Always someone keeping an eye on them.

Especially the younglings or the ones that found trouble the most.

Anakin, and by extension his kids, were counted in the latter.

Turning his face back up to the sun, Cody let out a small hum as Rex settled to enjoy the sun with him, a soft breeze sweeping over them. ‘…I could never have imagined this in my training days as a cadet… and now I’m here… laying in the warm sun, my vode all around me and my Jedi comfortably reading under a tree…’ He couldn’t help but smile.

How strange life could be.

How… peaceful.

What is happening in AWOL jedi?

Carefully picking up the blond haired baby, Rex let out a small coo and grinned happily as he bounced the giggling bundle, glancing over when Anakin repeated the action with his daughter.

Becoming a father, as exhausting as it was, had done the other man well.

There was a peace in the other man’s eyes that had never been there during the war, even during down times.

Though then again, they had been in war, being tranquil had never really been something people felt easy.

To relax or feel comfortable.

Just brief, stolen moments.

With a child pressed to your chest, you couldn’t help but modulate yourself, relax, feel your breath fall into an even state as your heart settled calmly.

There was also the responsibility of having someone that was totally reliant on you for even the most basic of things, to eat, clean yourself and even hold their heads that had a way of making you grow.

Feeling the gaze, Anakin looked at his former captain and smiled slightly, a tad shyly. “What? Is there something on my face?” He questioned quietly as he tucked Leia into his neck.

Shaking his head, smiling slightly in return, Rex opened his mouth to answer only for both to jump around when the door slammed open, Rex automatically reaching for a blaster he wasn’t wearing.

Thankfully, since it was only Obi-Wan, his eyes wide and excited with a big smile on his face. “Anakin! Anakin look what I found!” He held up an odd, blue plant growth.

His fellow blond quirked both his eyebrows, his shy smile turning bemused but wider, Obi-Wan’s clear excitement infectious. “A plant?” He guessed. “A very nice blue plant?” Anakin tacked on when Obi-Wan’s lips turned that familiar not pout twist.

“Its a form for citrus,” Obi-Wan squirmed a bit, his smile still wide despite the not-pout twist of his lips. “Similar to lemon but blue.” He beamed, wiggling excitedly even as the two blonds froze slightly.

Rex automatically accepted Leia when the other handed her over, settling her against the opposite shoulder to Luke. “Oh really,” Anakin said, purposely keeping his voice light. “Found today?” He cleared his throat.

“Mmhmm, I found it, an entire orchid of wild grown. I wonder if it can be peeled…” Obi-Wan was studying the fruit with his eyes, missing Rex and Anakin’s horrified expression exchange.

“You are not putting that in your tea until its been examined Obi-Wan.” Anakin stated strongly, taking a step towards his old master.

The redhead bounced back a step, moving further away. “Its just a piece of fruit Anakin, I’m sure its harmless.” He huffed, coloring a bit at the dubious look the other two exchanged.

“You mean like the poisoned grain we found last week?” Rex questioned a tad dryly, remembering Cody groaning into his shoulder about his General eating poisoned grain.

“Or that rabbit creature you found, whose fur could shift into razor like spikes while you were petting it?” Anakin tacked on just as quickly. “You are not testing that thing yourself, regardless how much you miss lemon in your teas, don’t test me Obi-Wan, I will tell Cody.” Anakin said sternly.

Cradling the blue citrus to his chest, slowly looking between the two blonds, Obi-Wan seemed to be considering his options.

Then he stuck out his tongue at them, much to Rex surprise. “You can’t stop me!” The man raced right out with Anakin on his tail.

Clearly he had expected this to happen, as he had given Leia over to Rex, the captain juggling two twins in his arms. “Obi-Wan get back here! Master Gallia! Stop him! He has an unknown and untested fruit! SOMEONE CALL CODY!” The commotion echoed across the building town.

Slowly, Rex looked between the two twins, getting sleepy blinks from both of them. “…Guess you two are with me for the time being,” He stated, a tad amused but mostly worried, glancing after the other two males. “…Lets hope your uncle doesn’t poison himself… again.” He sighed, resigning himself to calling Cody.

Di’kut Jedi.

I love AWOL Jedi its currently one of my favourite fanworks, anyway how did Anakin react to finding out about the clones of him and the other jedi? I got the impression he didn’t react well

Playing with Leia’s dark hair as she napped on his chest, Anakin let out a steady, deep breath. “They reminded me of myself.” He finally stated quietly in a subdued tone.

His old master had come by the day after arriving back home, quietly pulling Anakin with him to his new quarters, one Anakin had quickly noticed was larger than normal and had three bedrooms.

Anakin would guess that one was intended for whoever was visiting, a guest bedroom basically to house another Jedi or potentially a trooper that wanted to stay over.

The second, the master bedroom that was in the middle, was obviously Obi-Wan’s and had a twin bed in it.

But the third one had a particular color scheme of 212th yellow and little knickknacks that Anakin recognized as belonging to Cody.

That was Cody’s room.

He and Obi-Wan were living together in the new temple and Obi-Wan had guest bedroom, likely to house members from the 212th if they wanted to come by and stay over. He wondered if Obi-Wan had known all along that Cody had been hinting to them living together or if this had on his mind as much as the troopers.

Not that he got to think much about it as Luke had taken that moment to poop himself out and Leia had started crying, causing both Obi-Wan and Anakin to become preoccupied for a while, both working on settling the kids comfortably until they fell asleep in the respective man’s arms.

Feeling tired himself, Anakin had curled up on Obi-Wan’s couch when the other had sprung the question about their clones on him.

Obi-Wan, curled up in a beanbag beside the couch, likely a habit carried from curling up in the troopers tent, raised an incredulous brow.

It had Anakin rolling his eyes. “Yes, I know they are literal clones of me and therefore should remind me of myself but I mean…” Anakin trailed off, frowning slightly before sighing, hugging Leia to his chest.

Obi-Wan paused, shifting so he could cradle Luke in one arm, resting his hand on Anakin’s knee.

The touch was warm, supportive and when Anakin looked at him, he could only see patience and concern in Obi-Wan’s eyes.

Huffing slightly, turning his eyes back to the ceiling, Anakin focused on Leia and the hand on his knee for a few moments, letting the calm fill him. “…They didn’t ask to be created, their lives were set to be someones else, to belong to… if Cody and the others hadn’t found them, they would have been slaves to someone else will. I never…” Anakin trailed off.

But Obi-Wan simply squeezed his knee, an understanding, sorrowful hum escaping him.

He understood, in ways no one else would.

Because Obi-Wan knew his history, knew where Anakin had come from and his complaints.

Anakin Skywalker had been born and raised a slave for nine years.

With the assistance of Qui-Gon Jinn, he had freed himself, become a Jedi, learned at Obi-Wan’s feet how to be powerful and free and… he learned what freedom tasted like.

Which was why he had decided, long before they were even a twinkle in his eyes, that no child of his should ever become a slave. He wouldn’t allow it.

The clones however…

They wouldn’t have belong to themselves, stuck on Kamino.

The Jedi had never been ignorant to the large scale hypocrisy of the clone army and its ‘conscription’ to the GAR, the Senate wide demand. They just hadn’t been able to do anything, much to many gentlebeings guilty conscience in the Order as they lead them to pain and death.

The GAR clones, Jango Fett’s clones, hadn’t been given the freedom they deserved, had been slaves at the whim of the Senate.

Anakin’s clones would have been equally unable to say no.

Sold to highest bidder maybe, been whatever it was the owner would have wanted.

They weren’t Anakin and yet still a part of him and Anakin’s emotions had been overwhelming in that moment as Rex had showed him the little lights.

He had not been the only Jedi either, to see the little other lights, to know the kaminoan’s had taken their samples and cloned them…

The fact that Obi-Wan understood was something Anakin couldn’t help but be grateful for.

Grateful that he had Obi-Wan and the 501st, Rex having sat with him for hours after, the others taking care of Leia and Luke, letting Anakin work through his emotions without upsetting the twins.

It was nice, to have others.

AWOL Jedi is so good! You’ve really outdone yourself! ^^I’m super excited to find out what happens next with the great Coruscant escape and all the little clones! I wonder if we will see some troopers and/or Jedi stepping up and adopting some tiny clone children?

Raising his finger, vaguely gesturing to the tanks in front of him, Obi-Wan opened his mouth without a word escaping him, turning his head to look at the amused looking commander standing at his side.

When Obi-Wan didn’t seem to find the words he wanted, Cody shrugged slightly. “Yeah, I don’t know what to tell you General. We found them while removing the other tubies and getting them into the ship.” Cody looked back to the tubes.

Obi-Wan too did, tilting his head before reaching out, hesitating then pressing his hand to the warm glass. The touch made it easier to reach out and touch the brilliant little signatures of the babies in front of him.

The clones.

His clones, five little redheads, growing slowly and steadily as these were untampered clones.

Why had the kaminoan’s thought to do this?

Glancing at the others, Obi-Wan let out a small noise as he stared at the other clones, his eyes lingering on Anakin’s for a touch longer and then looked to Cody again. “We… we already have another one of Yoda’s kind in the order, a babe. It will be good for him to have others around him.” His mind latched onto that.

It was easier to consider the longevity of Yoda and Grogu with the little clones of Yoda, knowing that they would all be able to latch onto each other. They would lose other beings as age and death came for them, slowly but steadily as the years progressed but even as they grew older, they would still be there for each other.

Brilliant little lights of Force sensitivity, able to keep each other company, provide each other support.

Cody tilted his head, eyeing Obi-Wan seriously for a few moments before realizing that the other just didn’t have the capacity to deal with this BS today when he had only just arrived back home last night.

Humming quietly, Cody nodded in understanding, crossing his arms over his chest. “The medics say that there will be a few months before they can be removed from the tubes. Same with the youngest of the trooper clones.” He tacked on.

Due to there being several donors, one couldn’t just call them ‘clones of Jango’ anymore.

Obi-Wan actually knew that Cody and Rex were among the donors of the younger clones, due to their success rates and he suspected that Bly and Wolffe was also donors that had been used to create their younger vode.

He was relieved that Cody recognized that Obi-Wan was just to done to deal with this today.

Especially since he was also sick.

A trickle in the back of his throat warned him, his arm raising to catch his cough as it rattled through his aching chest.

His lowered immune system had not been happy with the trip to Coruscant and then back, something Helix and the other CMO had warned the Jedi that suffered from permanently lowered immune systems from the abuse of stims during the war that trips off planet could lead to respiratory infections.

Most commonly, a cold.

Cody’s hand settled on his back, rubbing slowly and gently. “How about we return to the rest of the 212th, hmm? I bet you Longshot has some warm tea ready for you already.” He stated softly and Obi-Wan fought not to moan at the idea.

Warm tea with maybe a dash of honey sounded beautiful and he quietly followed the other as he heard Aayla coming running down the hall, likely having been informed about her own little clones. He barely got a nod from her as she burst into the room with Bly following close behind.

He and Cody paused, blinking back into it as Aayla zeroed in on her clones, standing in front of them with a reverent touch to the closest tube, a conflicting mix of emotions from love to fear echoing into the Force.

“…Huh, she reacted better than Skywalker did.” Cody mused out loud and Obi-Wan glanced at the warped durasteel panel of the north wall.

Yeah… he wasn’t going to deal with all that yet. “Tea.” He plaintively stated, grasping Cody’s hand with the man’s face softened, his commander pulling him along with a smile.

In awol Jedi how does the escape from coruscant go? Do the escape cleanly or do the get caught?

Landing almost silently behind the swish of his cloak and the click of his heels, Obi-Wan glanced around warily to check if anyone had seen him jump from the roof.

Thankfully, except for a stray tooka, who was staring at him with large yellow eyes, no one seemed to have noticed the Jedi and Obi-Wan let out the breath he hadn’t been aware he was holding as he straightened and fixed his hood.

Then he set of, blending into the crowds of the slums of Coruscant, many people having hoods up as they didn’t want to be recognized or seen, all of them occupied with their own task they didn’t want to be recognized doing, be it for pleasure or business.

If there was one place someone could get lost, it was in a place where everyone wanted to be lost and Obi-Wan blended in with the crowd easily and despite his urge to intervene when he noticed a dealer selling deathsticks, he kept walking.

Everyone had split up, leaving out through the bedroom windows in ten minutes intervals to ensure no one caught onto several shadows leaping away. If ‘only’ one Jedi disappeared, it look like they were just angling for a bit of fun and Mace had reported over comm that he had a pair of shadows as he made his way towards the Jedi temple.

Plo had equally reported his own tails but neither Stass or Depa had reported anyone following them and Obi-Wan had not noticed anyone following him either. And honestly, he had been hyper focused on that.

Oppo should be leaving any moment now according to the chrono and Obi-Wan hoped that he wouldn’t have someone following him.

It would make everything simpler as they were suppose to rendezvous in half an hour as long as the last Jedi out wasn’t being followed.

They knew that they wouldn’t be able to take the ship they had arrived in, unfortunately but thankfully, Fox and the Coruscant troopers had arranged with another ship from the Jedi temple hours earlier.

It had been set up at a landing pad in Coco Town, Dex keeping an eye on it for the Jedi and ensuring that no one caught on just who the ship was intended for.

Honestly, Obi-Wan was so ready to get out of dodge.

He wanted to go home, research the flora and fauna, have tea with Anakin, play with the twins and enjoy time with the 212th, not cater to the whims of politicians.

His comm crackled and Obi-Wan quickly slipped into a shielded dead end, lifting it to listen as Oppo reported in.

All clear.

They could go home and Obi-Wan’s pulse throbbed with excitement.

They were going home again.

Their ruse had worked, Kamino was emptied out of troopers clones, fetus to adults, and now they could start rebuilding a planet just for them, safe away from the demands of the Senate as they ripped themselves free from their rules.

The Senate and their laws and ‘justice’ had almost destroyed the Jedi, there were even less now than before and Obi-Wan could only sense relief in himself at how free the Jedi order suddenly were along with the troopers. ‘Home…’ He slipped back into the crowds.
