SheeveSon O.O Obi Wan wakes up to find out the Emperor is pulling the Jedi off the no longer existing front lines and has turned the army over to the Empire, so public moral is up, the Jedi are more popular since they are no longer ‘war generals’, and the Temple is back to its PROPER function of soothing ruffled feathers. For the low cost of erasing the old order. So how does the new order of the Jedi react? Relief that they are no longer dying in droves? Hysterical laughter? Booze party???

The soft sound of tea boiling is filling the room, Obi-Wan focusing
on it and not the rockets he could still hear blowing up outside,
people celebrating all over about the end of the war and finally
peace settling in.

Even the temple, despite its losses, feel lighter and calmer.

Its almost enough to sooth Obi-Wan’s guilt at times when he was
alone without his Anakin to sooth at the frazzled emotions as he
leans against the window sill to watch the world outside the temple.

“Are you happy?”

Obi-Wan stared at his own hands at that before looking to the side,
watching the sheer blue shape of Qui-Gon sitting on his couch. “…”
He didn’t say a word.

The man slowly stood and walked towards him, perhaps a habit of being
alive made him move around things instead of through them, until he
was in front of Obi-Wan. “Are you happy with what you and Anakin
have done?” Qui-Gon questioned again, his features worn and looking
just like the last time Obi-Wan had seen him, near death.

“The temple still lives.” He offered quietly in return, still listening to
the kettle boiling and the smell of spicy tea filling the air. “I
will live with my guilt for the rest of my life but the temple still
lives.” He whispered.

“At what price?” Qui-Gon whispered in return, brows furrowed,
visibly upset.

“At the price of the old Order so the new will not die. Reformation
is never peaceful Qui-Gon. The only difference here is that it was
betrayal from within that lead to this.” Obi-Wan sighed then moved
towards the kitchen. “I know you don’t put stock in visions, but
I saw the alternative and it would have been pain and suffering
without measure.” He pulled the kettle of the burner.

“It is already pain and suffering.” Qui-Gon argued.

“But the younglings still live.” Obi-Wan returned sharply and
looked at him. “I am still here and Sheev Palpatine trusts me. If
nothing else you will hear that. I will keep an eye on all of it, I
will watch his apprentices and Anakin will never stray from my side.”
He poured his tea then moved back to the shimmering blue shape.

“…The cost Obi-Wan…” Qui-Gon whispered.

“You were the one to bring the chosen one here.” Obi-Wan returned
before reaching up. “You must have known that too much light needed
to be put out by darkness. Balance you spoke off.” His hand cupped
the blue cheek.

It did not feel tangible yet at the same time his hand was not
passing through it.

“Believe me when I say this, I am not Fallen, I am not Dark. I
belong to the Light and always will.” Obi-Wan whispered. “And
here I will stay and watch the Sith and fend for the younglings of
this temple. I will stay here and ensure their safety and their
happiness like others did not for me. And I will remember the lessons
of the old but the times are new Qui-Gon Jinn… and the Galaxy needs
Jedi who are not scared of attachment or love or compassion.”

A tear slowly rolled down Obi-Wan’s cheek to fade into his beard.

“I will not paint the old order as anything but the trying
honorable people they were… and I will carry the guilt of their
deaths… until the day I die. And on that day, the Force can judge
me as it wants and if I’m going to hell then… that’s alright.”
Obi-Wan smiled faintly.

Qui-Gon stared at him for a long moment before he faded away,
Obi-Wan’s hand hovering in the air for a few moments before it
dropped.

He turned back to the window was another firework exploded over the
Senate Rotunda. “…Alright … Lets get on with it.” He wiped
his face and looked up as the door opened, smiling as Anakin slipped
in and hurried to Obi-Wan’s side, the blond grinning as he wrapped
his arms around him.

his arms around him.

It was a new dawn for the Order of Jedi.

Good morning! So Obi Wan and Anakin are married, the anti-slavery bill has passed, and … what is good old Palps doing? Maybe choked on an olive during the reception? So SAD, our loving Chancellor, felled by such a minor (hysterical) death (nasty grin inserted here). A tie off for the SenatorSkywalker story? (Or Obikin snogging after ‘the funeral’) Thank you!

“I still can’t
believe he’s in a wooden nightgown.” Obi-Wan mused, a bit curious
and Anakin gave a shocked laugh, looking at his husband with wide
eyes.

“Obi.” His tone
was trying to be scandalized.
“What?” The other looked up at
him, blinking.

“He WAS the
chancellor, a tiny bit of respect would be…well don’t let anyone
else hear you talk about him like that is what I mean.” Anakin
amended, knowing his husband dislike of the man since his first
meeting with him.

Obi-Wan blinked
then shrugged and curled a bit against his husband. “I guess you’re
right. He just always stroked me wrong. I’m curious how he died
though, he’s not that old and he seemed healthy, a heart attack?”

“Is that what you
heard? I heard he got hit by lightning.” Anakin stroked the others
shoulder gently, tilting his head as they watched the rest of the
funeral goers mingle, all dressed in mourning clothes though some
were obviously not there as mourners as much as to make connections.

“Well… that
would explain a heart attack if he was hit by lightning.” Ben
blinked heavily and settled his head on the others shoulder, feeling
himself settle at the gentle touch. “Is it bad form to talk about
our hopeful honeymoon at a funeral? Because we didn’t have time to
leave before this all happened.”

“Well as long as
no one else hears what we’re talking about I don’t thi-”

“Senator
Skywalker.” The two looked up, both blinking at the white haired
man in fancy black clothes.

Then Anakin made a
low noise of recognition. “Ah Count Dooku, I wasn’t aware you
were on Coruscant.” He smiled, arm settling around Obi-Wan’s
shoulders as the man settled to speak with them.

“No, I wasn’t
suppose to but I had business here with an associate. Regretfully it
turned sour.” The count sighed.

Obi-Wan shifted a
bit closer to his husband, watching the other man. For some reason he
had a bad feeling but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it even
as Anakin and Dooku engaged in what was technically a pleasant
conversation.

He was content to
stay out of it since none of what the two were speaking of was really
of any interest to him and instead just enjoyed the comfort of
Anakin’s arm around his shoulder as he rested his own around the
other mans waist.

He was almost
drowsing by the time the Count seemed to take note of him and
chuckled. “Your husband does not seem very interested in our
conversation, I do apologize for taking so much of your time Senator
Skywalker.”

Obi-Wan shook
himself even as Anakin glanced down at him first in surprise then in
worry.

“Apologies Count
Dooku, I’m afraid its been a few long days.” Obi-Wan excuse
himself. “Anakin I’m really sorry.” He sent the other a doe
eyed look.

“Its alright
love, we were up late last night discussing legislation.” Anakin
covered smoothly, smiling down at him.

“Still, its very
rude of me.” Obi-Wan bowed lightly to the count.

“Oh I don’t see
the rudeness of it, you are after all working hard.” Dooku smiled
at him and Obi-Wan yet again felt that sensation bad. “You’ve
done quite a bit to make your own name Master Kenobi…or is it
Skywalker too now?”

“Both.” Obi-Wan
shifted closer to Anakin and looked up at him, smiling lightly.
“Skywalker-Kenobi.” It was one of the few things the slavers
could really take away from him, his name and therefor he had opted,
with Anakin’s full and unreserved blessing, to keep his old name
too.

They engaged in
some further chit chat until another associate of the Count called
him away.

“…I’m not
sure I like that man.” Obi-Wan murmured quietly.

“He used to be a
Jedi as far as I know but then left and took up his birth right as
Count of Serenno.” Anakin hummed back, nuzzling against the others
red hair. “But he can be an aquired taste I understand. Don’t
worry, we won’t have to associate with him.” He smiled down at
his husband.

Obi-Wan hummed then
curled under Anakin’s arm with a soft smile, relaxing slowly. Life
was looking pretty great in his books.

Hi there :-) So D!JumpObi was doing some research on Palps d/t being temple bound for a bit… how is that going? Has the Senate gotten confirmation of Palps collusion in both sides of the war? Has there been NO available proof, and the Jedi Council decides to grab the clones and ALL head out to Wild Space cause the Republic is dead, and the death throes would lead to the destruction of the temple per Obi orig universe?? TELL (pls ;-)

In the end, its
not Obi-Wan and not even the Jedi who reveal to everyone that
Palpatine is a double dealing traitor of the people.

In the end the
Order is not the ones who pay the price and has their ranks
shattered, in the end the clone army are just as lost as the Order as
Obi-Wan wakes up in Qui-Gon’s arms, still wearing their tunics and
leggings to fires on Coruscant.

Because the public
is in outrage as Yan Dooku himself has revealed that Palpatine sat as
the overhead of both the Republic and the Separatists but that Yan is
finished taking orders from the old wrinkled prune and that now he
leads the CIS.

The old man has
been leading both sides, something Obi-Wan and the Jedi Order already
knew as they tried to find evidence and dismantle it all.

Now they don’t
need to.

The Senate is in
uproar and there are rebellions all across the Galaxy in Republican
worlds.

Jedi and their
troopers are trying to quell the fires as everyone waits with their
breaths held in suspense to what comes next.

What comes next is
as terrible as it is defining.

Palpatine called
to trial with Jedi having been called by various Senators to stand in
their pods because there is a feeling of blood in the air.

What comes next is
lightning across Senatorial pods as Palpatine lets out a horrible
screech as he understands just how far Dooku’s betrayal has left
him in the patient plans he has been knitting together for years as
Jedi try to apprehend him.

What comes is
death of so many good men and women across the galaxy as Senators
with weaker hearts die from the charge the electricity surges through
them.

And Jedi fighting
to apprehend the now revealed Sith and bring him to justice on camera
and forever memorized.

In the end Obi-Wan
is not even there to see it.

He has found no
evidence to bring Palpatine down, not really, only circumstantial
evidence.

In the end he’s
one of trillions watching the viewscreen as Anakin Skywalker doesn’t
hesitate to decapitates Palpatine in what is clearly a lucky shot
after Qui-Gon gets thrown off a Senatorial pod.

Obi-Wan doesn’t
fear though, even though his heart is in his throat when Qui-Gon
falls.

He doesn’t feel
the other pass into the Force as so many others have.

And when they
return to the temple as the Senate still shout at each other and have
an emergency voting which calls Mon Mothma as the new Chancellor,
Obi-Wan can only pull Qui-Gon into his arms and hold tightly onto the
older man as Qui-Gon returns the embrace gingerly, bruised as he is.

There are still
fires to put out.

There is still a
war to finish.

There is a Senate
in uproar still.

But for the first
time in what feels far to long, Obi-Wan feels hope for himself even
as Anakin is lauded among his fellow Jedi and raised to Jedi Master
at the young age of twenty three.

There is a long
road still left.

But they can do
it.

Q: is ‘bitofmourning’ part of the ‘agricorp’ tag?

Nope,
haven’t had an ask for that or twin suns in a while surprising
though I have some snippets written for it *hums*
its from another story where plants respond to Obi-Wan…my brain is
trying to convince me he’s half plant but doesn’t know it, so
like the Sylphes or Zelosians though the latter had
emerald green eyes and a zap for blood… though if he’s only half
Zelosian he could just have kept green eyes…oh well *shrugs*

Oh dear. Just had a SheeveSon thought. The Council/Yoda now know Obi Wan can no longer be trusted… might Obi show up to a regular meeting and «disappears», and be held in the Force screened cells below to be ‘deprogrammed’… maybe setting off Order 66??? (small squeaky noises..) Fluff when Vader finds him afterwards would be very welcome :-)

“Its just a
meeting Anakin.” The older man chuckled, fixing his tunics and
belts before turning to his younger lover with a smile. “I imagine
we’re going to talk about something very boring or battle related
and then I’ll come back and we can head off.” He leaned in and
kissed the other sweetly but pulled away before he could muss Obi-Wan
up too much.

Anakin whined a bit
then sighed. “Fine. Fine. But you’re taking me on a date
somewhere afterward.” The two grinned at each other.

“Somewhere fun, I
promise love.” Obi-Wan pulled on his robe and headed towards the
door, stopping when Anakin grasped him by the end, having bounced
from the couch. “Ani?”

“…Be careful?”
Anakin murmured. “I…have a bad feeling.” He added quietly and
kissed the other gently on the cheek.

Blinking, Obi-Wan
stared at him before smiling softly and kissing Anakin again. “Of
course.” He slipped out of their quarters.

And that was the
last Anakin saw of him for hours as he paced their quarters, tried to
call him and then finally…

Obi-Wan disappeared
from the Force.

Anakin froze, eyes
wide.

He didn’t even
need to know what had happened to know who had done it.

The remains of the
council that had yet to die for Palpatine’s plans.

He marched out of
the room and headed for the speeders.

()()()

“I know.” Was
the first words out of Sheev’s mouth when Anakin let himself into
the office, the man staring out the window at the temple. “They
have him, most likely in the cells of the temple.” He tilted his
head, narrowing his eyes slowly. “It was too good to hope they
wouldn’t catch onto his change of allegiance.”

“What can we do?”
Anakin moved towards him slowly, staring at him.

He needed to get
Obi-Wan away from the council, needed to get him back in his arms
before… before…

Before what?

Before they did
something to Obi-Wan’s mind?

Changed him back
into the cold and aloof person he had been in the start of Anakin’s
apprenticeship?

Take away what had
made Anakin love the man?

Utterly adore
everything that was Obi-Wan from the hairs on the arch of his feet to
his self loathing to the smile that would light up a room?

…Okay fine they
couldn’t take the hairs on his feet but the point still stood.

“I have one way
to… finish this all…a modified order 66 that can go live to all
clones.” Palpatine drawled, seemingly calm but Anakin could spot
his clenched hand.

“A modified
order?” Anakin swallowed and then jerked back when yellow eyes
stared at him.

“A modified
assassin order yes. The original purpose was to eradicate all Jedi
with this order… however I needed to…modify it because of
Obi-Wan.” His eyes flickered back to the temple. “However…
sending it live to all clones will tip of the rest of the Jedi in the
temple as they would march on the temple.” His eyes flickered back
to Anakin. “A smaller team however…”

Anakin stared back
and then swallowed. “I’d do anything for Obi-Wan.”

“Then it comes
down to this, are your principles as a Jedi worth more then Obi-Wan’s
love?”

Anakin looked back
to the temple.

Then he slowly slid
down on one knee in front of the other man. “…I will
do…whatever you want me to do.”

()()()

It was so damn hard
to focus, with both the sedative in his system and the Force
suppressors in his systems. Yet he could still focus enough to stare
at Yoda and Mace talking outside the cell they had deposited him in.

Focus enough to
listen to them speak though, not.

He reached up and
pushed his hair out of the way, gagging a bit on the drugs in his
systems that he couldn’t counter or filter at all as he clenched
his eyes shut and pressed his back against the wall for some focus.

“Hmm, to much
perhaps given to him.”

“We can’t take
a risk until we know Master Yoda. We know his loyalty is in question
but we ne-”

Blaster fire, the
sound of lightsabers and then a terrible kind of silence that got
broken by hurried steps and a low cursing.

No wait, Obi-Wan
knew that voice…

He forced his eyes
open yet all he saw was darkness as someone wrapped him in a tight
hug.” Obi-Wan!”

“Ani?” He
whispered in turn, shuddering a bit as he wrapped his arms back
around the other. “How…did… you smell of ashes…” He grunted
into the others shoulder.

“I know, we can
talk about that later. Much later. I need to get you to the healers
right now so you need to sleep.”

Without
defenses, Obi-Wan fell asleep in the others arms as Anakin stood,
glancing down at the dead high council members, lips pinched together
as his eyes swirled darkly with yellow. And then it disappeared as he
nodded to the troopers to clean up and set the stage. “We only have
another half hour until the cameras turn back on. Be quick.” He
hissed. “Your orders?”

“We
were never here, we were at the barracks like good soldiers, awaiting
orders.” Cody offered, wearing a white uniform without markings.
Just shinys out on patrol.

Anakin
nodded and adjusted Obi-Wan in his arms.

Now
came the difficult part…

Oh dear. Just had a SheeveSon thought. The Council/Yoda now know Obi Wan can no longer be trusted… might Obi show up to a regular meeting and «disappears», and be held in the Force screened cells below to be ‘deprogrammed’… maybe setting off Order 66??? we’re going to talk about something very boring or battle related
and then I’ll come back and we can head off.” He leaned in and
kissed the other sweetly but pulled away before he could muss Obi-Wan
up too much.

Anakin whined a bit
then sighed. “Fine. Fine. But you’re taking me on a date
somewhere afterward.” The two grinned at each other.

“Somewhere fun, I
promise love.” Obi-Wan pulled on his robe and headed towards the
door, stopping when Anakin grasped him by the end, having bounced
from the couch. “Ani?”

“…Be careful?”
Anakin murmured. “I…have a bad feeling.” He added quietly and
kissed the other gently on the cheek.

Blinking, Obi-Wan
stared at him before smiling softly and kissing Anakin again. “Of
course.” He slipped out of their quarters.

And that was the
last Anakin saw of him for hours as he paced their quarters, tried to
call him and then finally…

Obi-Wan disappeared
from the Force.

Anakin froze, eyes
wide.

He didn’t even
need to know what had happened to know who had done it.

The remains of the
council that had yet to die for Palpatine’s plans.

He marched out of
the room and headed for the speeders.
