For Jedi courting— what about mediating with something or crafting something while using the force to imprint your feelings into that object? Every time a force sensitive picked up the crystal or token they would sense how the other person felt about them. A lot of places mention how kyber sings, what if the crystal could be imprinted with what amounts to a love song?

anon: Giving a lock of hair to lovers was a thing historically, and I can imagine Jedi courtship including Jedi knights giving lovers their padawan braids as very romantic

anon: I think Jedi with a connection to the Living Force would love courting gifts taken from nature like clippings of rare or unknown plants, cool looking stones or crystals (cough Force-sensitive river stones), shells or sea glass or sand art from beaches of various planets, and etc

anon: . For Jedi courtship, since Jedi are empaths or psychometric what about handmade courting gifts? Gifts the suitor made with love and effort that Jedi could feel or just gifts that had been carried around long enough that the suitor’s force presence or emotions are soaked into it.

I LOVE all of this. I’m literally vibrating in joy

For the Jedi Courting, what about finding there love their own kyber crystal? Not for a lightsaber but to keep with them? Maybe they can sense which one will fit their S/O? Sorry if this sounds dumb.

I frigging LOVE this idea. I mean, kyber is DAMN difficult to find, you gotta know where to look and have permission. Illum is hidden after all to prevent people from knowing where Jedi get their kyber. So can you imagine how difficult it must be to get one to gift another?

Like damn, you go all out on giving a Force sensitive a crystal that basically sings to them, struggling through haunted caves and likely a possible death? Woaah

I mean, I’m not doing that lol, but you gotta give the ones who do it their dues. The metaphorical balls on those people.

So, ages ago, someone scolded me when I wrote a courting thing, mainly having Obi-Wan trying to court Cody and using all the tricks he’d figured out vode used to court.

The issue was I had included NOTHING about Jedi courting. Despite it being Obi-Wan intently trying to woo Cody and Cody being uncertain if it was really THAT going on and therefore not returning anything.

But it has me thinking now, Jedi centric courting, since we know they are totally allowed to boink lol. And also maybe have a relationship if they can resist attachement?

But yeah, Jedi are after all encouraged to get to know their own planets if they want to, the people they came from. We see Barris with a prayer statue from her people and lots of details and individualisme.

So I’m kinda stuck here sitting, what WOULD be Jedi courting habits when everyone is so different and own’s planet dictates certain things?

I mean, Jedi are spiritual, so where do their dating/courting habits go?

Not ALL Jedi enjoy tea, so that’s out as a courting thing. And taking your potential interest to spar doesn’t quite fit either, since Jedi are so invidiual that not everyone enjoys fighting. Beyond taking someone to a meal, offering joint meditation, (which could be platonic too), and the common grain of ‘courting’ so to speak, I can’t quite think of courtship when every Jedi is so different.

Especially courting outside of the order, I mean, people don’t KNOW Jedi, despite the outreach centers they have. So… anyone got any thoughts about Jedi internal courting if they were looking for a relationship?

Okay, so a lot of people had brilliant suggestions and ideas.

But I need to clarify lol. Not just a Jedi courting another Jedi, but someone close to the Jedi but likely not Force sensitive themselves (like a clone or mandalorians and so on) courting a Jedi based on what they can observe or learn about Jedi courting.

Btw, someone suggested letting them hold their saber, that can be a platonic thing too. Mace Windu allows Kit Fisto to hold and wield his saber.

I seem to remember a wookipedia page about it being a deep sign of trust to let another Jedi have your lightsaber. But its still a good suggestion.

Edit: Yes, I remembered right! Though the wrong person, Mace Windu and Eeth Koth.

It was a ritual called Concordance of Fealty, though its all assigned to legend now. Its still nice
