Personally, I don’t like Obitine much but that has more to do with Satine’s character (not getting into that here) than anything.
Jedi are allowed to love after all, they are to be compassionate, kind and hell, Ka-Adi Mundi is after all married in the legends stuff, he has seven or five wives with either seven or five kids (I always mix the numbers) and he’s actually not the only Jedi that do have wives according to legend stuff.
And Jedi are also confirmed to not be celebate. All of that comes down to a personal thing, who wants to do what and what is right according to that persons cultures as we see Jedi being encouraged to know their people, I mean, if they didn’t then people like Luminara wouldn’t do the traditional headdresses and such on.
Now, the issue comes in with attachement, selfish love, love that you put in front of everything else, possessive… there is a difference.
So I don’t think Obitine ruined things when it came to Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan showed that not only could he let go of his love but he could move on, he didn’t do EVERYTHING, (Didn’t go dark side, didn’t do illgal things or bad things) to save her and when she died, he didn’t go beserker rage mode (like certain people). Obi-Wan pulled himself up by his bootstraps, reminded himself who he was and MOVED.
Do I THINK there are elements that made me wrinkle my nose when it came to Satine and his relationship? Sure.
But I don’t think it ruined Obi-Wan’s character. I think it showed us that for all that pain, and all his desires, Obi-Wan remains at his core a selfless and compassionate man that just wants peace, both for himself and for those he cares for.
Big need for Din to adopt a lothcat now. 100% accidentally. He pets it ONCE on his way back to the hangar and doesnt realise that its taken this as an invitation to follow him until hes been at hyperspeed for an hour and spots it peeking thru the cockpit door.
Its a new ship, and hes made himself familiar with it, but it’s not the Crest and he doesnt know every nook and cranny yet, so this Cat has plenty of places to hide from him to avoid being Forcibly Removed From The Establishment.
He’s baiting it out with food but its too fast for him to grab without worrying about hurting it by diving on it in full armour, so he’s trying to gain its trust so that the next time he hits planetside he can scoop it up and dump it out and stop having to find MESSES in HARD TO REACH PLACES.
He’s doing this by speaking very softly and sitting very patiently near the food he leaves out and carefully ignoring it when it slinks out to snatch the meal and scurry away, until eventually it stops taking its food to a hidden spot to eat and just eats right there, beside him.
“Perfect” he thinks “Excellent. All according to plan”
But then one night he suddenly has a lapful of purring Lothcat with its scratchy little scaly feet all tucked up under it’s body and hes like oh fuck oh no. I love you. Whoops
