Sitting with Obi-Wan against his chest on the bed, Anakin watched the
other go through the clean onesies with care, petting the soft synth
cotton fabric with his fingertips. “Are you sure you want the baby
in that?” He asked with a small grin.
“I like the print.” Obi-Wan laughed, holding up the black onesie
with little lightsabers all over it. When the light was off, the
sabers glowed faintly. “Its cute. Can’t I dress the baby cutely?”
He shifted enough to grin at Anakin over his shoulder.
Squeezing the curve of Obi-Wan’s stomach, the blond chuckled and
shrugged. “I guess, I just like the krayt one better.” He winked.
“I am not dressing the baby like a krayt dragon their first days, that onesie has tail!”
Obi-Wan snorted in amusement.
“Why not? Lets terrify the temple with them.” Anakin waggled his
eyebrows while pulling the other closer as if that was humanly
possible.
Sniggering quietly the redhead just tucked the saber printed onesie
into his bag. “Just no Anakin.” He hummed warmly.
Settling with his nose in the others shoulder, Anakin just listened
to his breaths for a few moments with a tender smile on his lips.
“…I requested permission from the council to remain on Coruscant
until the baby is born. Windu granted it in minutes.” He murmured.
Shifting a bit, Obi-Wan turned enough to actually look at Anakin with
surprise on his face. “You… but you only just came off probation,
you only had one active field mission.” He said in bemusement, both
happy but confused.
Shrugging, Anakin rested his hand on the swell of Obi-Wan’s
stomach. “I know, but I want to be here when our butterfly is born.
I’m going to be working with Master Dralling, with the saber
classes so its not like I’m not going to be active and this time I
can pick the age range which I teach.” He grinned a bit before
pressing his nose into the others shoulder again. “But I’d stay
even if that meant I had to be in the creche changing diapers
everyday if I just got to be with you.” The knight whispered.
Making a tiny noise, the redhead cupped the others cheek and pulled
him up into a soft kiss. “Oh Ani… you silly man.” He whispered,
eyes slightly blank with happy tears he wasn’t about to shed.
“Thank you, I… thank you. I wanted you to be here but I didn’t
want to…demand it.” He murmured.
“Ask me anything and its yours if I can grant it.” The blond
muttered against the warm tunic. “If its in my power I’d give you
every star in the galaxy.”
“I’d never ask for that.” Obi-Wan chuckled quietly, relaxing,
his bag forgotten in the light of their soft conversation.
And he still had a good few weeks to pack the birth bag anyhow with
the most essential already in it, a soft sleep robe, toiletries and
the baby onesie. All he needed now was something to do and he was
giving birth in the temple after all, Anakin could quickly and easily
bring him anything he forgot.
“Oh I know but I’d still get you them if I could.” Anakin
lifted his head to give the other a tender little kiss.
“I’d settle for a cup of that tea you got me.” The other
chuckled quietly.
Anakin reluctantly shifted away from Obi-Wan and got off the bed,
nodding. “The hibiscus one?”
“Yes, it helps sooth my stomach and I think the little one likes it
too.” The redhead laughed.
Stroking Obi-Wan’s cheek, Anakin gave a wry grin. “Just my luck,
my firstborn is going to be a tea drinker too.” He teased warmly
and outright laughed with Obi-Wan winked while leaning into his hand.
